BookOno, an alternative to Caliber?

BookOno, an alternative to Caliber?

Recently while surfed on the Net I came across bookono, an ebook manager that promises a lot and may take the throne away from Caliber. bookono It is a young project so it has the advantage of being more up-to-date than Caliber but it has the disadvantage that it still has errors and limitations, including those of the platform, at the moment it only works under Windows but it is working on versions for Linux and MacOS.

bookono It is written in C ++ and is complemented by the Qt4 libraries, so its development for the different platforms is only a matter of time. It has a GPL license, so when it comes to acquisition, it is not very different from Caliber.

bookono not only allows us to manage our ebooks and be able to synchronize them with our eReader, but it also allows us to search for ebooks through The net and the built-in browser. Also with the inclusion of the browser, bookono will allow us convert web pages to pdf to later pass it to our eReader. Another feature of bookono is that it allows us to read the ebooks we select as well as take notes as we read the ebook.

BookOno, An ebook manager or a Caliber plugin?

With these features and after the comments about it, I started to install and test the version of BookOno for Windows and test it. The truth is that the result is quite disappointing.  bookono, It is not an ebook manager, in my opinion, but rather an external Caliber plugin. To convert formats you need Caliber, Book Ono itself indicates it like this, you also need it Sigil For the publication of ebooks and regarding the transfer of ebooks to our eReader, I have only found the method of using the cloud, which although it is fine, represents an obstacle for those eReaders that do not have Wi-Fi.

As discussed on the official page of bookonoIt is still in the test version, but I think it still has a lot to do.  What do you think? Do you use any other manager other than Caliber? All opinions are welcome.

I use Caliber on my GNU / Linux system, although I don't have an eReader as such, I use my smartphone as a book reader. Caliber is very helpful when I want to read my books while doing homework or research.
