We help you solve the big question; What kindle do I buy?

Amazon

After having analyzed the new Kindle Travel and the new Kindle PaperwhiteIn addition to having compared them between them, the time has come to try to help you decide which Kindle you should buy. The task is not easy at all and is that today Amazon has 3 great devices on the market, of very varied characteristics and of very different prices.

First of all we must know that any reader, from almost any country can acquire 3 different Kindle reading devices, the Basic Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and the brand new Kindle Travel.

What is the budget you have?

First of all to choose which Kindle to buy I think it is important to know what is the budget we have. If we have set a maximum spending limit of 100 euros, we already know that we will not be able to access the Paperwhite or the Voyage and that our choice should be the basic Kindle.

The problem is that very few people set a limit when buying a device of this type, since it will last for many years and it is better to spend on a slightly better one, since we will not have to renew it in a while. If you do not have a fixed budget to solve your doubts about which Kindle to buy, you should continue reading this article to solve your doubts.

How much use are you going to give your Kindle?

There are readers who devour books and spend their days and nights enjoying reading. On the other hand, there are others who read very occasionally and generally when they have some free time on the weekends. Our recommendation is that If you are not going to use the eReader much, do not spend too much money on it and buy something simple such as the basic Kindle or at most the Kindle Paperwhite.

If you use the eReader very frequently and read at night, maybe you should go for the Paperwhite, with integrated light, or the Voyage if money is not an issue.

Do I need my Kindle to have a spectacular design?

This is the question that may solve all your doubts, and it is that most users will have the doubt of whether to buy the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kindle Voyage. As we have already said in previous articles, the main difference is in the design of both devices. For all this you have to think if you want to spend 70 euros, which is the difference between the Voyage (€ 189,99) and the Paperwhite (€ 129,99).

Also think that in most cases all of us who have and enjoy an eReader carry it in its case to prevent it from spoiling, so the design is quite hidden.

Opinion freely (and trying to help)

If you want to know my opinion in this case, I would totally discard the Kindle Voyage, mainly for its price and because the truth is that one design or another does not matter too much to me. Once focused on the basic Kindle or the Kindle Voyage, here the question I think depends on the money we want to spend and especially if we are going to use the integrated light or not.

I have thoroughly tested both devices and the truth is that I would stay with both without any problem, but If you are going to use the Kindle to read in bed for example, my recommendation is the Kindle Paperwhite, for its integrated light.

Finally, and for what it's worth, I have a basic Kindle for my personal use, which I'm completely in love with and that I use every day without any problem.

My experience, in case someone comes here with the idea of buying one or the other.

    1) You ALWAYS add the price of the case to the price of the ereader. If it is the official add € 35 to the price of the kindle already first to avoid scares. If you want to get into the wonderful world of looking for a compatible unofficial case, which is well valued and also cheap ... prepare a lot of hours of your time and in the end you will end up either with the official one or with one that is around 15-20 €.

    2) Once you have realized that the real price of the Kindle with a cover is Basic € 115, Paperwhite € 165 and Voyage € 225, it only remains to decide taking into account that these devices come WITHOUT a charger. Only the cable to connect them to a USB charger that one has of a smartphone or tablet.

The decision? It is clear to me. The Voyage would rule it out unless it's on a whim ... the extra screen resolution isn't going to give you anything. Do not dream that with any 6 ″ ereader you will read comics, magazines or pdfs in a way that is not even minimally comfortable. They are not worth it, so the extra resolution is very good, I am not saying no, but it is not worth the money. The buttons to turn the page, I was a defender of them to death, but now I have two paperwhites and I already tell you that turning the page by touching the screen is very comfortable and does not stain it at all since it has a certain roughness.

Once the voyage is ruled out. Between the paperwhite and the basic the only thing I would value is the light or not. Forget about weights, screen resolutions, thicknesses, design etc. In the end the design, weight, thickness, etc. with the cover on is irrelevant. The resolution is still more than enough that of the basic one to read any book at any size without noticing almost a difference (you have to have the two devices together to notice it) and remember that on eink screens you do not see the pixel as such, it is not a It is a tiny square, but it remains as a blur with what the resolution is only appreciated when there are drawings, and in the novels there are very few and they are usually irrelevant. Summary… light is what sets them apart. If you have the money, I recommend the paperwhite, since it helps on many occasions even if it is not really necessary. Sometimes you are in the living room and between the bulbs, a shadow, and other circumstances, because you give a little light to the screen and it improves the thing. I also say that the very strong light from the screen tires me a lot, I don't like it. With what to read at night only with light I do not recommend it since there is a lot of contrast and the eyes are tired. My wife is less affected.

The basic is also a very good option if you do not have a lot of budget. I have given several gifts and it came from a 6.1 papyre without light and I never missed it.

I hope I have helped someone with my experience. Be careful with the covers that we always forget and must be added to the price.

By the way and offtopic. Writing with the ipad on this page is a horror. Every time you try to put the cursor elsewhere to correct a word then it no longer writes to me. I have to select another field, for example the mail field and try again to put the cursor back on the word in the comment field that I wanted to correct. I don't know why it happens, but I suppose it is from the html code of these fields. On other websites this does not happen to me. I use IOS7.

It also does not give me the options to correct word for others when I write here.

It took three years with my Kindle 5 (the basic one, even without a touch screen) with almost daily use. There is plenty of it and it is enough. Maybe on a couple of occasions I missed an integrated light. Surely one of the best purchases made in my life.
