If a few days ago we had the chance to try the Kindle Paperwhite, this time we were able to retest a new Amazon device. This time it is the Kindle Fire HDX, a powerful tablet, with a protruding 8,9-inch screen and that to round off it has a very adjusted price and that is very far from that of the most similar devices that are currently sold on the market.
With a very elegant design in black and a very low weight, This tablet has made us completely in love from the first day we started "messing" with it. Also, once we tested its power, the love story was confirmed even more.
Before starting to make any valuation, let's take a little look at main features and specifications of this Kindle Fire HDX:

One of the main and most essential points of any tablet is its screen. In the case of this Kindle Fire HDX, the screen is one of the strengths of the device and is that the image quality is very high thanks to its resolution of 2560 x 1600 and its pixel density per inch that has gone up to 339.
The + positive

The + negative
Go ahead that it is quite difficult to find any negative aspect in this Kindle Fire HDX, but we have tried to highlight some that, without being too important, could be improved
- The materials in which the device is made make it very dirty and for example we can always see our fingerprints, not only on the screen as normal, but also on the back of the tablet
- The layer of personalization that Amazon puts on all its devices is, to our liking, a bit uncomfortable and cumbersome
Opinion freely
I have never been a regular user of tablets, although I have an iPad 2 that they gave me a good day for my birthday and that I hardly use, but this Kindle Fire HDX has made me fall in love. And I have fallen in love to the point of using it for almost everything and in it I have watched TV, read books and enjoyed some of the best games on the market.
The iPad is king, but its price is also for kings and queens. However, this HDX offers you a very good experience for a much lower price that you can save or invest in another device or gift for whoever you want.
Availability and price
The Kindle Fire HDX is available worldwide from any of the Amazon versions, with a price of 379 euros, although there are models with a smaller screen size and somewhat smaller features with a lower price.

This has been my tablet for a little less than a year and therefore I can comment on it. In general, I quite agree with what you say, it is a bit dirty and traces remain.
As you say, the worst thing is the customization that Amazon makes of the operating system. What bothers me the most about it are the following points:
- Not all the applications on google play are worth it. They are worth a lot of yes and I can say that almost all the ones that I have wanted to download I have but some I do not. For example series.ly that worked for me for a while but overnight ... caput.
- Amazon's sorting system by collections (which also applies to its ereaders) I'm not saying it's wrong but I personally prefer to make folders and put the APPs there as if my sister-in-law's Samsung Tab allows me, for example.
- The famous carousel. Not that it's bad, in fact I like it in part because it allows you to quickly access recently used documents and applications… but it can't be configured at ease and that's a drag. For example, if I want to delete the applications from the carousel, I have to go one by one! I have contacted Amazon and they have confirmed that this is so and that they will try to correct it in future updates (hopefully true). Nor can you impose a limit of applications that the carousel shows you (say 10 or 20 which would be desirable for example) no. It puts you ALL the applications, documents, etc. that you open one after the other ... and I have already said that you have to do to clean everything, right? Well, that: a can.
But otherwise it is a great tablet. It has a very good screen and is very powerful. It has moved me with ease all the games and applications that I have tried. By the way, I see you've enjoyed NBA2014… I enjoy it too, it's great! 🙂
In addition, the tablet feels very light. I think there is no other 9 ″ tablet (more or less huh) that weighs so little.
I also have to say that despite the fact that I have criticized that it does not allow me to create folders, I love its menu for ordering apps: Documents (here it saves the pdf documents that you send from the web, etc), Games (I think it's clear), Books (for those bought-downloaded from Amazon), Photos, Music, Videos, Web, Offers and Buy. These last two in close contact with the web amazon.es (it is very easy to search and buy on amazon with this tablet)
Also note that it has a magnetic sleeve that, although expensive and heavy, is very good and allows you to hold the tablet both horizontally and vertically on a table.
In short, a great tablet with certain limitations at a very competitive price.
