Tagus Magno, the eReader with the largest screen on the market

tagus

If this Christmas you are looking for a different eReader to the usual maybe the Tagus Magno marketed by «La Casa del Libro» And that today we are going to present you and of which we will discover all its details, it can give you that something different to the most famous and sold devices on the market.

Without a doubt and with just a glancing glance we can discover the great difference of the new Tagus device and that is that has a 9,7-inch screen, almost 4 inches larger than the screens of most devices. This screen size can certainly be a great advantage but also a great disadvantage for many.

I want to take advantage of this article to give thanks to «La Casa del Libro» Since they put at my disposal a Tagus Magno to be able to enjoy a small test of the device and a comprehensive explanation with which I have been pleasantly surprised by the characteristics of the device that you can see below:

Tagus Magno highlights

  • Size: 241 (height) x 178 (width) x 11 (thickness) millimeters
  • Weight :: 520 grams
  • Screen: EPD 9.7 ″ E-Ink Pearl allowing a resolution of 825 x 1200 pixels
  • Memoria interna: 4 gigs of which three of them are dedicated to the Tagus operating system and one of them is free for the free use of the user. There is the possibility of expanding the memory of the device by means of micro SD cards of up to 32 gigs.
  • Processor: freescale i.MX508 at 800 Mhz
  • Battery- A 1600 mAh Li-ion battery is built in, allowing approximately 8.000 page turns
  • Supported formats: PDF & EPUB DRM, TXT, HTML, CHM, PDB, MOBIPOCKET, FB2, DJVU, PDF, EPUB, WORD, PPT, EXCEL (2007 & 2003), MP3, RTF, ZIP & RAR
  • Connectivity: WI-FI 802.11 b / g / n, Micro USB 2.0, 3,5 mm headphone jack, SD card slot

I also have to say that I was disappointed with this device and that is that its 520 grams is for me and surely for many people a great handicap to take into account but above all Its price, 299,90 euros is the main flaw of the Tagus Magno.

If we analyze the device and all its characteristics in detail, it may be that its price should be high but I think not those almost 300 euros that we will have to pay to take it home. There are devices with similar characteristics on the market right now, reducing the size of the screen at a much lower price.

The question we must ask ourselves is; Is it worth paying 300 euros for a device with a large screen or is it worth paying a normal price for a device with a normal screen? The answer to this question should be taken by everyone.

Opinion freely

Without a doubt, it is evident that we are facing a powerful device with very particular characteristics in terms of its size and that surely suit the needs of many users, if they, for example, are not going to take it out of the house, but without a doubt its price It is not cheap at all and I think that a screen that is almost four inches larger than usual is not worth that money.

If it were with electronic color ink I would think about it. At the moment a tablet is better to have that size.

Is there no middle ground? I am looking for a 7.5 »e-ink ebook (the 6 ″ screen is very small for me, with presbyopia I need to read with a large font size), that has wiffi, you can make annotations, quick searches, that reads mp3, to an affordable price and little else. Do you know any model that is for sale?

By the way, the Tagus Magno is a clone of the Onyx Boox M92, analyzed on this same website.
And yes, it is a shame that large readers are so expensive

    Dear…
I ordered a 9.7-inch TagusMagno. And really the book house has to work hard to improve the ereader that they promote on their website. The Kindle DX model is superior to this year's model despite the DX being released in 2012.
