Review: Kobo Glo, the new Kobo ereader

Kobo eBook

El new device of Kobo that they have baptized with the name of Kobo Globe was born with the clear intention of standing up to Amazon devices and in view of its main characteristics it can undoubtedly become a good option to the Kindle, so fashionable lately.

Its main features include its screen with a resolution of 1024 × 768 pixels which we will provide an enviable reading quality and the possibility of regulating the level of the illumination of the screen (not to be confused with the backlighting).

To start an interesting review of this device, it is essential to start by trying to discover its lighting system, called comfort light and that reminds us very much to the one seen in other devices, such as in the Nook SimpleTouch with GlowLight.

In an image that circulates through the network of networks, you can see the difference in the lighting system and appreciate the differences.

Kobo Glo device

The price of the Kobo Glo is 129.99 euros, a very similar price and close to that of other devices on the market and that have very similar characteristics.

If we had to give an opinion (very personal and non-transferable) after trying it for just a few minutes and being honest I think we are facing a great device and with some characteristics but which is missing something, especially in design, finishes and availability of accessories to reach the height of its main competitors.

If you are thinking of buying the new Kobo Glo and it has convinced you from the first moment, do not be advised and buy it right now because it is undoubtedly a great device.

In relation to quality-price-performance it is a very good option, integrating all the advantages of other e-Readers in one, and without a very large price increase.
Good screen, illuminated, wifi, touch control, Micro-sd and excellent battery life.
    Without a doubt, € 130 well spent.
    A greeting.

Without a doubt, the best point in its favor is the screen lighting that most devices on the market do not have.

Which ereader would you recommend me to buy a kindle for this Christmas or is it worth buying others, and if the answer is kindle, which one do you recommend?

If it helps, I'm going to change my ereader and I'm considering the Sony PRS-T2 and the Kindle Paperwhite as possibilities.

I just bought a Kobo Glo and had a few books downloaded in PDF on my computer. So the first thing I have done is transfer them to the ebook and open them: the letter comes out dwarfed and it doesn't give me the option of making it bigger, or looking in the dictionary for words that I don't know ...

So I have tried one of the books that were free in the ebook and in those they do give me the options. Does this mean i can only use dictionaries and text sizes etc with books downloaded directly from kobo?

    Help me !!! 🙂

Probably the pdf files you have are prepared for an A4 size paper and not for a 6 ″ reader. You cannot manage the font size in pdfs, at most it will let you "play" with reflow and zoom, so you have two options: 1) create pdf adapted to a 6 ″ reader or 2) use another file format .

a question about it, is wifi connectivity only for use with your store, or do you have an internet browser?

In fact, I just need the ebook to have a small solar cell to charge themselves (as some calculators have). So if they would have leftover duration (even in case of being on a desert island 😉)
