Kindle Paperwhite Vs Nook Simple Touch Glowlight, duel in the light

Kindle Paperwhite Vs Nook Simple Touch Glowlight

Yesterday, taking advantage of Sunday afternoon, I decided to carry out an analysis between two of the best-valued devices on the market that incorporate light for reading. I'm talking about Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and that has managed to be a reference in the e-book market and a little more unknown Nook Simple Touch Glowlight but that has managed to enamor all those who have decided to acquire it.

Without a doubt we are going to talk about a couple of devices from two companies that dominate the eReader market right now and that are two fierce competitors, Will we see many differences between two of its most powerful devices?.

Below you can see the advertisement for the Kindle Paperwhite that caused great controversy:

If we started with the analysis of these two devices by their outer zone we could see two very different devices in terms of design but very similar in terms of their specifications and it is that both have a six-inch E-Ink Pearl screen, although in the case of the Kindle Paperwhite this is HD and with a somewhat higher resolution, 600 x 800 pixels of the Nook for the 758 x 1024 pixels of the Kindle. Their dimensions are very similar and only differ by a few millimeters (165 x 127 x 11,9 for the Nook by 169 x 117 x 9,1 for the Kindle).

Its weight will not be a problem in either case since they only differ by 15 grams in favor of the Nook, which is somewhat lighter.

Below you can see the curious and funny announcement of the Nook Simple Touch Glowlight:

If we go inside, the differences become even smaller And it is that in both devices we will have at our disposal an internal memory of 2 gigabytes and a very similar 800 Mhz processor. We will also have a USB port in the two models, although in the case of the Noo this will be microUSB.

As usual, the Kindle does not allow to expand the capacity of the device through microSD cards and that does allow the new Nook model.

Without a doubt we are facing two very similar devices that can be differentiated only in details, such as price, 129 euros of the Kindle for the 155 of the Nook, the quality of light they provide for reading in the dark and that is more a matter of taste or for example their design.

To be honest, I am going to leave the duel in a technical tie, although if I had to buy one of the two devices, it is possible that I would lean before the Kindle Paperwhite, because of its price, its design and especially because of tradition and quality. that Amazon can offer us.

And you; Do you stick with the Kindle Paperwhite or the Nook Simple Touch Glowlight?

One downside of B&N is that they do not market their e-readers directly in Spain but only through distributors so I don't know if there are other distributors or if they have other prices or if it is a one-off offer.

But it is even worse that B&N does NOT sell ebooks in Spain, only in the USA and UK, it seems absurd to me, really

On that same website, in addition to the Glowlight at 120, I have seen the Nook Touch (without lighting) for 80, a fairly reasonable price, competing with the basic Kindle

How can there be a tie if the kindle does NOT support SD card and does NOT read ePub which is still the STANDARD format….

€ 15 less in price does not compensate for these 2 huge disadvantages

What the hell would we want an HD screen for in a book reader? Someone explain the application to me exactly because I don't understand it. It is like telling me that one brings a connection to social networks and another does not, are we looking for a tablet or an electronic book?

I am a Nook user, since two years ago I gave it a try and bought my first Nook for my wife on ebay at the price of 70 EUR (refurbished). Then came the second, a gift for a colleague. That colleague bought another for his sister. A few weeks ago I noticed that the Nook is already sold in Europe and I bought one for myself and one for a colleague for 53 EUR including shipping (Nook simple touch 2 not the Glowlight model). Another colleague just asked for two more, one for his father and one for a friend ...

What to say ? I think as l0ck0: That in "supposed" equality of benefits it seems a bit absurd to consider a tie between a reader who does not incorporate the standard for reading an electronic book "EPUB" and of course who does not have the possibility of expanding the memory internal. It seems to me a shit on the part of Amazon and they continue to drag it generation after generation.

On the other hand, the Kindle does not seem like a bad device (at all), but for the two things that I comment mainly I would always choose a Nook over a Kindle.
