How to use Caliber and our eReader wirelessly

Caliber

One of the programs that most used in terms of eReader management is the famous Caliber, a free license software that is used to manage our eReader, either the most unknown or the well-known Amazon Kindle. We all use or have used this program, but Today's tutorial goes beyond the basics to propose to have the same results but without cables. Today, the number of eReaders that do not have a Wi-Fi connection is insignificant and even if we have not used it, surely our eReader supports data ( ebooks, news, emails, etc ... ) via Wifi. This is very useful if we want to carry out the process of loading ebooks without having to use the cable or have the eReader plugged into our PC.

What do we need to manage a wireless eReader?

We have already commented that we need an eReader with a Wi-Fi connection, that is, it can be connected to a Wi-Fi network, be it ours at home or any other. We will also need a PC with Caliber (or a laptop) and that this laptop is connected to the Network as is logical. We will also need two email accounts and one of them is from Gmail or HotmailBeing free, we can make one especially for this task if we don't have any.

How to prepare Caliber for wireless use?

Now that we have everything, all we have to do is go to the Connect / Share tab. There we will have three fundamental options to be able to manage Caliber without cables. One of them activates Caliber in server mode in such a way that from any browser we can manage our library and when I say “manage”I mean to be able to edit data and to be able to download the ebook to our device. When activated we will see that the menu option changes and our IP and the port to which we can connect appears.

The second option allows us to configure the Caliber server mode. Something that we will not go into now. And the third option, the most interesting, allows us to configure Caliber to send our library updates to our eReader by mail. A tool used by companies like Kobo or Kindle, since their synchronization processes are similar.

When we press this option, we will see a screen like this, we press the button "add email”And to our left we fill in the box with an email address that will be the one that will receive the ebooks and information for our eReader. If we use a Kindle, the ideal is to enter the email that Amazon gives us.
At the bottom we have to enter the email address that will manage the shipment, if we have an account in gmail or hotmail, we press the button with your drawing and it will ask us for the email address as well as the password, this is as I said before, to manage the shipments to our eReader since the Caliber by itself cannot perform these tasks. Once configured, the Connect / Share menu will change and it will appear “Send by email”A very practical option to send recent ebooks or news rss without using cablesAll you have to do is select the ebook or rss, press the button «send by email»And make sure that our eReader has access to a Wi-Fi network. Something very comfortable do not?

Hello. At least the Kobo H2O does not download the epub sent by mail (even if it is in the inbox of the gmail account that it has configured)

Great option of caliber in server!
Since a win10 update, the laptop does not detect the Kobo Glo hd and I had to be using another pc where I do not have the caliber library to send the files to the ebook .. putting caliber in server mode I access with the browser and transfer each file comfortably. Thanks!
