How to install Bookerly, Ember, Roboto and other fonts on Kobo eReaders

Kobo

Last Thursday we met the new ember font from amazon that will arrive in the new Kindle Oasis. An exclusive font for this eReader that can be used by other Kindle when it comes to the relevant update.

But if you have another digital reader and want to use it, there is a way to install it on a Kobo eReader. It's funny that while you can't install custom fonts on a Fire or Kindle tablet without "breaking the system", it's fairly easy to install on eReaders.

The trick to be able to install any of these fonts, such as Bookerly, Ember, Roboto and others, I explain it step by step below.

How to install a custom font on a Kobo device

  • Simply we connect the Kobo device on the computer via USB and then we use the same options for creating a folder on the computer to create one that we will call fonts in the root folder of the device
  • This folder must be named fonts with the "s" as an obligation, otherwise the device will not recognize it
  • Copy all font files in that folder. A font family usually comes in a set of four and they all have similar names so the reader can recognize them.

You can download the Bookeryl and Ember fonts at the end of the post. Other options like fonts can be found in these forums.

Once the fonts have been installed, you should be able to select them from the sources menu that can be found within an ebook. It will be a matter of taste to select a final font, but it is an opportunity to get to know Amazon's new Ember font that is exclusively on the Kindle Oasis when it is launched.

Una curious way to access something exclusive from what is a competing device.
