Fnac Touch Plus, the new FNAC eReader

Fnac eReader

With the arrival of Christmas, almost certainly the best sales season of the year, the launch of new technological devices proliferates among which, how could it be otherwise, electronic books are not lacking.

One of the last companies to release its new device the market has been FNAC that has decided to join the trend of launching its new device with the interesting option of built-in lighting. For this he has launched the Fnac Touch Plus, a clear heir to the Fnac Touch, its predecessor.

Surely all of you who read us daily or know the details of almost all the devices that we can find in the market, will have realized that we are facing a device very similar to the BQ Cervantes Touch Light, the latest device that the Spanish company BQ has put on sale and not only in terms of its characteristics but also in terms of its external resemblance and its price, which is totally identical.

The main features of the Fnac Touch Plus are the following:

  • Size: 166x115x11,6 mm
  • Weight :: 200 grams
  • Screen: it has a 6-inch high definition touch screen that offers a resolution of 1024 × 758 (212 dpi)
  • Memoria interna: 4 gigabytes with the possibility of increasing said memory by means of a microSD card of up to 32 gigabytes
  • Processor: FS507iMX 800MHz
  • Battery- Features a 1.500 mAh Li-ion battery
  • Supported formats: .PDF, .EPUB, .JPEG, .PNG,
  • Connectivity: has WiFi connection

As we already said when we analyzed the BQ Cervantes Touch Light It is important when buying a device of this type and with such a novel technology, to test it and study if it will provide us with what we need or if, on the contrary, it will be a nuisance.

For all those who want to try this new device before purchasing it, you should know that I have been able to test the new Fnac Touch Plus at Fnac itself and the truth is that it is a very elegant device, that works very smoothly and regarding its built-in lighting we could say that it is a more than correct function that will allow us to read in total darkness.

Its price is also very attractive since the It costs 129,90 euros or 148,85 if we buy it with a great cover They can be decisive when it comes to leaning towards this device rather than others with similar characteristics on the market.

    Hello Villamandos MERRY CHRISTMAS
Santa Claus has brought us this ereader but we have several queries, perhaps clumsiness:
-1-Is it normal for the letters of «Off» to always remain on the screen? ... it never stays completely at rest ...
-2-we cannot change the date and time ... in settings / options / date and time, it tells me that it is May 21 and it only allows changing the time zone.
    Thank you very much

Good morning Jorge, Merry Christmas to you too.

The letters of «Off» could be, I have had two Bq devices and in one if the letters remain on the screen. I will try to inform myself and tell you if it is normal or not.

The second is weirder, you should modify the time when changing the time zone. I will inform myself as well.

Great device without a doubt the one that you have been given as a gift, it is possibly the one that I will also buy in a few days.

        Hola!
I was left as "blocked" for a while one day, and today I realized that the date of that day was marked ... and there is no way to change the time and date ... only the time zone 🙁

      Hello,
Regarding changing the date and time, the same thing happened to me, and that is that it cannot be changed manually, but when you connect to the internet via Wi-Fi it is automatically synchronized.

Thanks Juan, indeed in the store they were connected and it was updated instantly, it does not support manual change of date. He had been left as hung. They also told me that the letters OFF are always on the screen, that the blinking of the icons is normal ... well, frequently asked questions according to the clerk.
I had tried to download a firmware update on the BQ page, but the ereader did not read the microSD card to do it, but that's another story ...

        Thanks to all
        George

I have bought it and I can not find how to change the gray levels if someone can help me. On the other hand, sometimes the black screen stays a few seconds when changing options.

It is totally normal that the letters remain marked. Being electronic ink does not consume battery.
I have it and I do not recommend it since the touch screen does not work with the precision of others that I have tried. Many times I turn the page and 2 or none pass.

Hello, I bought it for me, this ebook meets, but I already have problems, I configured it for the internet at first well but when I try to connect I have to re-enter the password, it is normal, I downloaded a book and when trying to change the letter it crashed It puts it to rest I turn it on and it appears on a page of the book I try to turn pages and nothing will be that because it is tactile it takes a long time or the ebook has already been damaged, thanks

I have a doubt. When I'm reading and suddenly want to take a look at something on another page, I mark the page I'm reading with the little "bookmark" symbol. Then once I want to go back to that page, do I have to search for it by flipping and flipping until I find it (or remembering the page number and looking for it) or is there a way to go directly to the bookmark symbol? Because if not, I don't see much use for it.
    Thank you.

I have had a bad experience with my Fnac Touch Plus since it stays too blocked and cannot be restarted so you have to wait for the battery to run out and days, weeks can go by, so for now it seems like a scam.

I, too, have been gasping since yesterday and there is no way that it will "come back to itself." I have it since September and it is the second time it happens to me. The first was shorter, but this is already amazing ...
What I can do? Thank you

There are already two negative experiences with electronic books from Fnac / BQ (and there will be no 3rd!). I have written an opinion in the fnac store, but apparently they did not like it so they decided not to publish it (and because of the number of users I find in the forums, just as disappointed as I am, I imagine that mine is not the only comment that they have preferred not to publish ...)

So, with even more motivation, I take it as a personal crusade to spread the word about how shameless these brands are.

I bought the first Amazon Kindle (now they call it "keyboard") when it came out in the US (2011), and it continues to be my faithful companion on trips, the sofa at home, the beach, the park and the terraces in the sun, beer in hand. It is like an old dog, that walks slowly, its ass is heavy and sometimes it is a bit temperamental, but it will NEVER leave you lying. He does not know many tricks, neither touch screen nor 3G, but there he is, by my side, just like the first day 🙂

A couple of years ago I bought my mother an e-book. I have developed certain moral objections, so to speak, towards Amazon, since I bought my first Kindle: both at the level of the prices of their books (ebooks more expensive than paper books), and because of their aggressive policy of wanting to eat the world, or the conditions in which its employees work (look what happened to the Spanish who have emigrated to Germany and ended up working at Amazon ...)

Anyway, I decided not to contribute to the expansion of Amazon and bought him the Fnac e-book (the first one that came out, brand BQ). Go shit! The battery didn't last a whole day, so we had to install a new firmware to fix it. After that, the crashes began, not wanting to wake up from rest, etc. In the end we get tired and we take him to change. Supposedly, it was repaired for us. Before long, the problems reappeared, so I went back to reinstalling firmware. Nothing. It cost, but in the end we managed to get it replaced (This way it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's hours of my life wasted fighting with technicians and customer assistants, that no one is going to give me back). This one, in the end, more or less went well. From time to time he refused to wake up from rest, or gluttony would enter him and he ate the whole battery at once, but after all the problems he gave the poor thing, that seemed a lesser evil ...

A month ago, the cat threw it off the table and goodbye FnacBook (Cat ready!). So, without thinking about it, the moral to take the ass and Kindle to the song! You don't know how happy she is! Do not hang, or reinstall, or technical service ... The only thing you have to be careful with is with the cat ...

Well, nothing, a couple of days ago they gave my girlfriend a Fnac Touch Light (BQ brand, too). I wish I could have prevented it! And don't get me wrong: those of you who have one and are satisfied with it, what luck and I'm happy for you! I only tell my experience (s), and the reason for my particular crusade against this SPANISH brand (and then we wonder why we did not get out of the crisis ...)

We take it out of the box. We read the instructions (lest something happens later and it's our fault). We put it to charge for 8 hours before its first use (following the instructions to the letter). The next morning, I turn it on to fill it with books while she's gone and surprise her. At first glance, it looks cool. Responds fast, the touch screen is much better than the previous Fnac reader I tried, the light is very good and… Hey! Why can't the light be lowered anymore? What happens to this? Damn, he's gotten caught!

And so the odyssey began ... hang up when turning the light up / down, hang up when activating / deactivating the wifi, hang up when changing the letter, hang up when turning the page, hang up WHILE IT WAS TURNED ON ... To give you an idea, during its first day of use, the record time without crashing should be around 3 minutes ...

To sum up what has been an endless headache, more hours of my life wasted updating the software, doing dozens of hard resets, restoring factory settings, reinstalling the firmware (I have reinstalled 3 different versions, several times each) ... lost between forums and emails to the technical service, yelling at a lifeless machine that cares little about the inflammation in my head. The only thing that I have lacked has been to pray to the Virgin of the book (by Botticelli) and throw the damn thing out the window.

In the end, after 6 back-to-back emails from BQ's technical service, they have agreed to replace it with a new one (we pay the shipping AND return costs, of course. It's just that we have a card, trying to make them pay for it. , the poor…).
We would be delighted to return it, but we live outside of Spain and it was a gift, so it doesn't seem very feasible. Now all that remains is the simple and fast return process: «Fill in and print the form, attach it to the device, make a note of the RMA number, visibly stick the bottom label included in the RMA document on the box, send the package and WAIT ... WAIT ... WAIT ...) Let's see how long it takes ...

I don't even dare to think about what will happen if the same happens with the replacement. I can see myself with a 130 € sausage cutting board ...

The moral, for me, is "don't trip over the same stone three times." The forums are plagued with users with these types of problems. In fact, they already were when I bought the first electronic book from Fnac, and they still are now, 2 years later, with the Touch and the Touch Light (search for "Fnac Touch hang up" on Google, let's see what you get ... )

That after that time, the brand has not learned anything and continues to have the face of marketing products that they KNOW fail so often seems unfortunate, both on the part of BQ and Fnac. And even more so the fact that, being aware of the failures, complaints and claims, the Fnac has taken the liberty of censoring negative comments on its website, knowing that as ALL negative comments were published, they would not sell a single one. single unit ...

We are talking about a NEW product, and it is not the most popular reader on the market. For € 130, it could already at least turn on and work for 10 minutes, even if it was ...

In short ... that I wouldn't buy another BQ product even if my life depended on it. There are many other brands out there, for all budgets ... If you want to raise Spain, do so by buying other products from the land that you know will be good for you (wine, ham, cheese, sausages, cider), but do not give your money to these scoundrels.

If we are going to be consumers, at least let us be active, informed and consistent consumers, who are not fooled. It is already good that they rip us off, rob us and treat us as fools ... that at least, with some things, we can choose not to let ourselves be ripped off again.

And moral 2: Paper books do not give such problems.
