BQ Cervantes Touch Light, the latest in eReaders made in Spain

Bq Cervantes

Last week the Spanish company BQ presented what will be its next launch, the BQ Cervantes Touch Light that will seek to keep the Spanish brand among the most prominent in a sector as highly competitive as that of eBooks.

During its presentation, a date of release to the market or a specific price was not confirmed but on the official BQ website you can already buy the product at a price of 129,90 euros although it is unknown if the shipment is made immediately or it will be necessary to wait to be able to receive it since at first it seemed that the second half of January 2013 would be the date of putting the new BQ Cervantes Touch Light on sale.

The new BQ device stands out once again for its elegant finishes and for some more than interesting features that will make it a very good option to take into account when purchasing an eReader or electronic book.

The main characteristics of the new BQ Cervantes Touch Light are the following:

  • Size: 165x115x11,5 mm
  • Weight :: 222 grams
  • Screen: it has a 6-inch screen with an HD resolution of 758 × 1024 pixels, with 16 gray levels and a built-in light that can be dimmed in order to control the intensity
  • Memoria interna: 4 gigabytes of internal memory, with a full 2 gigabytes available entirely to the user
  • Processor: FS507 i.MX 800 MHz that allows a page turn in approximately half a second
  • Battery: Li-ion 1.500 mAh
  • Supported formats: PDF, ePUB, JPEG, PNG
  • Files with DRM: PDF, ePUB
  • Connectivity: micro-USB 2.0, Wi-Fi ™ 802.11 b / g, micro-SDHC / SD slot

Without a doubt we are facing a great device that it can be the perfect gift for this Christmas although, as with all devices that incorporate these innovative integrated light technologies that allow reading in the dark, certain doubts arise. And it is that we are facing relatively new technologies that will surely have a long journey of improvement because what if today we buy a device of this type in a few weeks perhaps we can find a similar device with much more improved and perfected lighting.

BQ e-book

Our recommendation is to wait and be calm, at least until we can see and touch the new BQ Cervantes Touch Light in one of the large stores that have them on display and we can draw a conclusion while holding it in our hands.

What do you think of the new BQ Cervantes Touch Light and the advances of BQ in a sector as highly competitive as electronic books? We liked it, although a percentage of users have their BQ Cervantes blocked.

The brands could already leave you the readers so that you could try them well ...

    Good reader, although not perfect.
When you have a micorSD card, it doesn't show me correctly the name of the book you're reading (it tells you that it's another), although clicking on the book does take you to the correct one and the correct page.
Lighting and Wi-Fi are working properly.
In general, his response is good, although on a couple of occasions he has been slow to respond, I think for reasons related to Wi-Fi
The tactile part is the one that I see the weakest. Although it works correctly, it lacks a little more sensitivity, and forces you to dial well and slowly so that it detects you correctly. This does not affect the reading time, but it does affect the configuration or web browsing

Expensive, like many of the ereaders on the market and is that the industry dedicated to these electronic reading devices has already received several complaints and complaints about the abusive prices offered in the market. Who said that implementing a technology that would eliminate the paper as a common reading format would mean an improvement in the prices of cultural products? If to that you add that TFT or LCD screens (alternative products to those that have electronic ink technology, cheaper in price), are more harmful to eye health because you have as a result that these types of devices are currently expensive and abusive, since the wide offer of different companies does not guarantee competitive prices.

Fatal, absolute fragility of the screen and does not come under warranty, 10 days of use and broken, without blows or anything.

Fatal, fatal. What a disappointment. It is locked and there is no way it will come to. Neither pressing more than 15 seconds nor pressing simultaneously start and ignition or anything at all. And above all, when I connect it to the computer, it doesn't see it. And it has been like this for more than 24 hours. Lousy appliance

Well, it is perfect for me. I bought it in December and without any problem with it. and on the bq website they have new firmwares that have improved the page turn, because yes, at the beginning I sometimes spent 2 pages instead of one. but with the new firmware issue fixed.

The only way to unlock it, is that the ebook's battery runs out, then comes back to itself

Hello everyone, I have my eye on this reader, but it throws me back the whole issue of locks. Well, I wanted to know how the issue is currently on them, if it is something that has already been solved with the successive updates that the device has been having. For me, letting the device reset it is enough for me, and not that of having to wait for the battery to run out.
    Greetings and thank you!

I do not recommend anyone to buy this reader. I have been blocked, and when entering forums I have been surprised by the amount of problems that people are having with it. I got to know it and I opted for another brand.
