Víctor Mora, creator of "Captain Thunder" and "El Jabato", dies

Captain Thunder y The Jabato they are possibly two of the best known comics in the history of Spanish comics. Both bore the unmistakable signature of Víctor Mora, who yesterday unfortunately left us forever at the age of 85 years in his hometown, Barcelona.

Mora's life was not easy at all, and is that born in a Spain where the Republic has just been proclaimed, he had to go into exile with his family in France in order to escape the persecutions of the Civil War. His return to our country occurred with the death of his father. Then he began to work at Editorial Bruguera where his excellent skills led him to write for well-known series such as Dr. Fog o Inspector Dan.

His successful participation in some more series led him to important positions in the Editorial, to the point that he was commissioned to create a totally new series. From there it arose in 1956 Captain Thunder, which at first wanted to face The puppy, and that ended up becoming one of the most popular comics in history.

From the success he went to jail with his sentimental partner due to his membership in the Communist Party. Once out of prison, he continued to reap successes among which he stood out far above all The Jabato.

As we always say, today we have to fire a huge figure in the world of comics as he was and is Víctor Mora, but we are lucky that we can enjoy his heritage, in the form of dozens of comics forever.

Rest in peace, Victor Mora, one of the great geniuses of Spanish comics.
