These are the 10 most influential books in history

Most influential books in history

Last week a survey was published by the British publisher Folio Society, and in which the 30 most influential books in history are released. In the first place it seems "The Bible" which is the book that has had the greatest impact on modern society, with 37% of the votes of the 2.000 people who were asked.

In second position appears "The origin of the species", written by Charles Darwin and published in the year 1859. The work of the English naturalist received 35% of the votes. Closes the head trio "A Brief History of Time" by the popular scientist Stephen Hawking, although at a very great distance from the first two books.

Religion and science are the themes of the 3 most influential books, but they are also the majority if we look at the list of the first 0 books with the most power to influence people.

Here we show you the 10 most influential books:

  1. The Bible
  2. The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin
  3. A Brief History of Stephen Hawking's Time
  4. "On the Theory of Spatial and General Relativity" by Albert Einstein
  5. 1984 by George Orwell
  6. Isaac Newton's Principia Mathematica
  7. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  8. The quran
  9. The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith
  10. James Dewey's Double Helix

It is not a survey with a too large sample, since only 2.000 people have been consulted, but it is quite striking that there are so many books on scientific and religious themes, and for example there are no books on economic themes, taking into account the times we live in

Interesting list. It is worth a clarification: "The wealth of nations" has an economic theme; in fact it is a classic in the field

Most people would respond in the same way as the list is, clearly the first 4 are books that talk in some way or another about life in both religion and science, but for me 1984 has been the best book written in the world. history as it describes a totally dystopian world and shows a future to which we are getting closer every day, if that book had not been written there would not be many things that we see in the world today, from entertainment to totalitarian regimes.

The last title I do not know. I think it should include Don Quixote. It is a universal symbol.

Definitely the bible is one of the most read books since in the first place the religions based on the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, ... are the ones that have more parishioners in the whole world, therefore they impose it on you since you were born, (as is also the case with the Koran) on the other hand, there are other books that mention the list that one reads them because it shows a certain self-interest and not a forced interest, in addition to demanding a certain capacity for reasoning and understanding on the subject, unless it seems better . Faith on the one hand and reason on the other.
