The new Windows 10 update gives problems with Kobo eReaders

Windows 10 Update Anniversary

A few days ago Microsoft released an update for Windows 10, an update known as 10 Anniversary Windows Update. This update is gradually reaching users' computers but it is also causing problems for them, something that did not happen before the update.

Several users have found that after updating Windows 10, my computer stops recognizing Kobo devices and it can even make them unusable since in many cases it offers to format the memory with the consequent damage.

The Windows 10 update is problematic and more so for Kobo eReader users who for the moment and until September will have to be without their eReader. Several users have contacted the Kobo support service and indeed the problem comes from the update, something that will be corrected by Microsoft during the next month of September But just in case, Kobo will release an update for its eReaders that will make them compatible with this problem, in such a way that when connecting to Windows 10, the eReader is recognized and not problems.

Kobo is already working on an update to fix the problem for its users

While this arrives there are alternative solutions such as restore the computer to an earlier point to update Windows 10, use the eReader browser to download ebooks through Caliber's cloud services or use the sd card in the devices that have it. These solutions are effective for some but not for novice users and it is a big problem.

In any case, eReaders are not the only devices that are having problems with the Windows 10 update, webcams are also giving problems and like these, not all brands have problems. Apparently Amazon eReaders have no problems with the latest Windows as well as Microsoft webcams. All very strange and very annoying for the end user Do not you think?

If you connect an Amazon Kindle to a USB 3.0 port of a computer with W10 Anniversary Update, the computer immediately hangs with a blue screen (BSOD). It seems that with USB 2.0 it does not happen.
Again Microsoft covering itself in glory.

The same thing happens to me, I thought it was just my PC but now that you mention it it must be because of the Windows 10 AU update.

I connect it with the pc off and then turn on the PC, it works that way for me.

After my Windows was updated to Windows 10 in October 2016 and even after successive subsequent updates, I continue in January 2017 without being able to enter my Kobo Glo HD via cable, it always tells me that it cannot access.
The technical services of Kobo and Windows have railed at me, saying that the other is to blame and they have not given me a solution.
Currently I connect to Caliber via Wi-Fi and only then can I put or remove books.

If anyone knows how to fix it (I have searched without success), I would appreciate some guidance.
