Black spots that Amazon doesn't count on your Kindle Unlimited

Kindle unlimited

A few days ago Amazon surprised us all with the launch of an eBook subscription service that he christened Kindle Unlimited and that offers users for $ 9,99 per month more than 600.000 books in digital format and approximately 2.000 audiobooks, ready to start enjoying them anytime, anywhere.

Although Amazon only talks about the positive aspects of its new service, as is normal, this has several black spots and negative aspects that today we have decided to review one by one and carefully so that no one is disappointed if they decide to hire this reading service.

First of all this Amazon's Kindle Unlimited is currently only available in the United States and it is unknown when it could reach Spain and other countries. On this same website we show you a way to hire the service to "cheat" Amazon and the network of networks is full of methods of this type, but it is certainly not recommended since the firm directed by Jeff Bezos only covers US users and practically all of the eBooks, which cannot be read by any site of the characteristics and conditions, are in English.

This may not be considered a black point by anyone, but I think it is one thing that Amazon has not made clear enough, although I would almost venture to say that it has made almost nothing too clear regarding Kindle Unlimited.

Another of the black points of this new service is that Despite the fact that it has more than 600.000 eBooks in its catalog, only 10 digital books can be read simultaneously, once we have reached those 10 books, to access a new one we must "release" one of the ones we have in the library. This means that we will not be able to accumulate books and more books as when we bought them in property. Many will not mind this aspect, but almost all of us like to keep a book forever if we liked it a lot, with Kindle Unlimited this is not possible.

In addition, Amazon's problems with many publishers around the world such as Hachette without going any further, with which it maintains a cruel war open, have meant that the catalog of digital books is very wide, but that it does not have the latest news arrived at market and with some very popular books from publishers such as Penguin, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster who have decided not to collaborate on this project with Amazon.

The users of the service of the largest digital bookstore in the world have already created a list of 10 very popular books that aren't available on Kindle Unlimited:

  1. Guns Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond
  2. Philip Roth's American Pastoral
  3. Rabbit, Run by John Updike
  4. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy
  5. A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson
  6. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
  7. Malcolm Gladwell's Blink
  8. The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie
  9. The Circle by Dave Eggers
  10. The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

Of course, this new Amazon service also has its positive points, among which is, for example, the great variety of devices in which you can enjoy reading or the extensive catalog of audiobooks, but these aspects have already been widely commented and I believe and we believe that today it was necessary to give some importance to the black points of Kindle Unlimited and above all to make them known.

Have you already tried Kindle Unlimited or have you been inclined to use another eBook subscription service?.

We cannot forget that a large part of those 600,000 ebooks are self-published books é I tried to search for known authors and found nothing. I only got recommendations from self-published books. For the same reason, I will not contract this service.

The service I already tried it, the problem is not the 10 books, the problem is that the books are not that good and the important books are not in this service. For now I am still testing the service, but I think I will not hire it because it does not have the great authors

As for self-published books, I think it's a great idea, it's a way to support independent authors. I have been able to find an author. I think she is a Mexican who has excellent books, I recommend them.

A hoax, you try it for free and you end up paying for the months until you realize it and unsubscribe, even if you don't use it. The books available in this service are very cheap, all well below € 10, so you can hardly find the one you want to read. It's like paying € 10 a month to go to a public library.
