The best reading apps for Android

Android operating system

Nowadays there are already many people who have a Smartphone with a large screen or a latest model tablet and who would like to be able to enjoy the world of electronic books in them. For all those who do not want or cannot buy an e-Reader we present you the best reading apps for Android.

There are many applications available in the official Android application store, the Google Play But we have decided to keep three applications, totally free and that in our opinion stand out well above the rest.

Kindle

Kindle for Android

Amazon devices dubbed Kindle They are undoubtedly one of the most famous and sold digital book reading devices in the world, that is why Amazon could not miss the opportunity to enter other markets and without a doubt Android represented an unbeatable opportunity to market an application.

The Amazon application for Android presents as its main feature the ability to sync all bookmarks and notes between all your devices. Thanks to this we can pass as much data as we want from our Kindle to, for example, an Android tablet.

As usual some defect had to have an application created by Amazon And this is that it can only be used for books downloaded directly from the Amazon store itself, so we will have to pay for each book we download.

Periodically

Aldiko for Android

Aldiko is possibly the most widely used application of this type by most Android operating system users around the world.

Its main characteristics include: possibility to read both in ePub and PDF form and it allows us to do it from an interesting and detailed interface. In addition, another option that many users tend to like very much is the possibility of changing the font, margins and even using the night mode so that the screen adjusts to those hours of the day and does not bother the eyes.

Aldiko is also a totally free application as long as we are willing to see the occasional ad. In counterpart we will have free access to the Aldiko e-book store where we can buy various titles and download great classics at a very low or no price.

Google Books

Google Books for Android

How could it be otherwise Google's digital book reading app is usually installed on all Android devices For obvious reasons, but not for that reason, it is by no means the best application, although we could consider it as very correct.

Its main problem, very much like Kindle, is that we can only use books purchased through the Google application for this task but on the contrary it offers us some very interesting options such as the possibility of downloading some books for free.

Google Books is a free app which at the moment is not a great application but surely and having the support of Google behind it, it will not become the reference application for too long.

Maybe it was my bad luck ... but the fact is that I have not yet seen a reading application that when invoking the book you are reading always shows the cover of the book for a moment.

I don't understand you ... If you explain it to us a little better, maybe we can help you. All the best!!

I will try to explain myself.

Digital books have lost signs that identify the readings.

Reading is an experience and all the details of the book are integrated into it, with which what has been read is remembered much better, giving it an identity that is between important and vital to associate the work, the author and the moment of our reading immersion.

All digital books are read on a screen whose sensitive experience is identical in all cases.

For all that has been said, I consider that seeing the cover frequently, with the title and the author's name, would tend to reinforce the link between the work, the author and our reading moment.

I agree with you, Dubitador… Ever since I read on kindle (3 years ago now), I have always said the same thing. Now I read many more books than before, but it is true that I remember with much more difficulty the author and the title of the cadavlibro ... As you do not see the cover as in the physical book, certainly that link is diluted.

By the way, fantastic blog, keep it up !!

I usually use mantano reader and moon reader. I think they are very good since you have the opportunity to change the color of the "paper" of the books to something not as bright as white, so they allow you to read pdf and epub ... I have not searched much with moon reader but with blanket you can underline and if you have the paid version (either by apk or by buying it) it allows you to share your notes on almost all your social networks or send them by mail, etc.

Moon Reader is a great application and it was one of the ones I had selected to include in this article. Mantano Reader I only tried the free version and it did not seem like a great application, although I will have to try the paid version to enjoy all those options you mention.

A greeting and thanks for reading!!

A little note. The Kindle for Android application allows you to read books not downloaded from Amazon. Simply put a book in mobi format in the Kindle folder on your mobile. You also have the option to send a book to the application using the Android share command.

I always send the e-book in mobi format to my kindle email, and then it can be downloaded from the application, without buying it from Amazon or DRM or anything like that.

Another interesting program is Fabrik Reader (fabrikreader.blogspot.com), which syncs books and progress using dropbox. Highly recommended.

In that sense, the Kindle application for Android also synchronizes (with other mobiles, tablets or the PC application), as long as you use the same account (logical), and you have put the same mobi files on each device (this works although it does not downloaded from Amazon)

For me, just for that (it does not depend on external applications such as Dropbox), and because of the Spanish dictionary it has, it is right now one of the best, although it may lack other options.
