Ebooks are already profitable for JK Rowling

Pottermore

It's been a long time since Harry Potter ebook versions are available to many users. However, it seems that now is when these versions are really profitable for the creator of Harry Potter herself.

As many of you know, JK Rowling left everything in the hands of the web and company called Pottermore. This website is the one that has all the rights to the Harry Potter digital content. And it is where the special contents are published. So far, surprisingly, this website gave losses but it is something past because it is currently giving benefits.

According to the latest results report, Pottermore has made more than 15 million pounds in recent months, something that is a benefit for the company. These revenues are due to the launches of the new titles in the series, the recent film in the Harry Potter series and, above all, the special materials linked to those titles.

The Pottermore website has generated more than 15 million euros to JK Rowling

As well the new ebooks on Magic in North America and the new saga of «Fantastic Animals ...» has made sales grow, despite the fact that users who have downloaded it have been disappointed by the content.

Personally, what strikes me most about this news is the fact that Pottermore has not had any profit so far or his expenses have always exceeded his income. Something incredible if we take into account that the distribution of ebooks does not generate any cost or the sale of the already known titles.

That is, it seems that Pottermore is not delivering the full potential it should. Possibly this will change during the next year, if Rowling really is still interested in making money with this website or wants to earn more money through these means.
