Tagus Iris, the new «premium» eReader from Casa del Libro

tagus-iris

Yesterday we told you how Onyx Boox updated a model of his with Carta technology and how that model could reach Spain. So today I thought about looking at the website of Casa del Libro, the Spanish bookstore that works with Onyx Boox in case there was something new ... and if there is.

Casa del Libro already sells an eReader from the Tagus family, known as Tagus Iris, an eReader that replaces the Tagus Tera and that despite its price, its characteristics are quite interesting.

The design of the Tagus Iris is similar to that of other eReaders, something that does not seem to change. In addition to having the center button, Tagus Iris has the side buttons to move and turn pages.

The hardware of this eReader is interesting but known outside of our borders. The processor is dual core at 1,2 Ghz, a processor that has 512 Mb of ram and 8 Gb of internal storage. The screen has a size of 6 inches, it is made of electronic ink from the E-Ink brand and with Letter technology. The resolution of this screen is 1024 x 758 pixels with 212 dpi. This eReader has display lighting but has no tactile feedback, that is, we will not be able to use our fingers to turn pages.

Tagus Iris will allow us to listen to audiobooks or have a flat rate of ebooks

The battery in this device has a capacity of 3.000 mAh that corresponds according to Casa del Libro to 8.000 page turns or more than a month of autonomy if we do not consume excessive Wi-Fi connection. In addition, this eReader has audio output that we can use to listen to podcasts or audiobooks. But the best thing about this device is its operating system. Tagus Iris has Android 4.2.2, an old but powerful version of Android that will allow you to use the eReader as a great alternative to take notes or keep an agenda. Without forgetting that we can install any reading service via streaming or another similar app.

The negative part of this device is its price. Tagus Iris costs 129,90 euros, a high price if we take into account that other models such as the Kobo Aura Edition 2 or the Kindle Paperwhite cost less and have a higher resolution touch screen. So it seems that Tagus is still not a tough competitor for the big boys, although if the user is looking for something more than reading ebooks, the Tagus Iris can be a great alternative. Do not you think?

Hello Joaquín, this week has been my birthday and they have just given me the Taurus Iris. Contrary to what you say, I assure you that you can turn the page by touching the screen. And I was also impressed that it is very sensitive to the touch. All the best

      Goodnight.
I am looking for an ereader that can read pdf well. Any advice? I'm between the Tagus Iris 2017, the Kobo Glo Hd, Kobo AuraEdiion 2 (I don't find big differences between these two) and the Energy Sistem Pro HD.
      All the best

Angel, image type pdfs are not "great" in any reader.
Among those that I have tested, ONYX devices (the TAGUS of now are also ONYX) are the ones that best deal with the subject of pdfs.

    Hello:

The Iris is tactile, in fact now Casa del Libro does not sell any that are not tactile. The jewel in the crown will be the Da Vinci.

I have had the Tagus Iris for 2 weeks and we must affirm Joaquín's opinion. The only thing that is a tall tale is the battery capacity: without the Wi-Fi on and without the screen light (which it uses up, of course) it can barely turn 1000 pages - far from the promised 8000, which disappoints me a lot since I bought it mainly for this….

Well frankly, I am outraged with Tagus.
    I feel ripped off.

A year and a half ago, they decided to get rid of the 2014 Tagus Lux models (they already had new models on the market) offering an unbeatable offer (only in a well-known establishment of known solvency). Despite some comments, price and benefits outweighed the risk, so I bought 2. After all, I usually use a tablet, and I only wanted it to read mainly books. I thought that the wifi would allow me to work with my personal cloud, so as not to have to constantly connect to the computer. Naive that is a ...
One of them did not last a year.
The other day they gave me the appropriate technical explanation, and from an intensive third grade to my family, I have deduced how the screen that nobody touched (always protected) could be broken. Bad luck. OK no problem.
The other, after a year and a little, using it very carefully, always with the original cable, one day it appeared with one less pin of the connector, therefore, it gets very hot (burns to the touch) turning out to be a danger, and the computer does not recognizes it.

Contacting the Tagus service turned out to be an odyssey, and besides, I was always "lucky" to contact people with little or no desire to resolve the issue, and with courtesy conspicuous by its absence.
Finally, after much insistence, I was lucky enough to communicate with a competent and decisive person. Besides being very nice. I went to the commercial establishment where I bought it, and there the treatment turned out to be exquisite and unbeatable.
They sent the reader to Tagus.
Almost 40 days later, they reply that they do not fix it and that they give me the money back, because they no longer have the same books. In fact, the brown one has been eaten by the establishment, not Tagus, who are the ones who have the obligation to have spare parts, but anyway ...

The battery life of the Tagus, a horror. nothing lasts.
I had a Papyre of the first, a Sony that gave me more than 5 years of wonderful readings, an Inves, with which I have not quite gotten along, and the Tagus, whose android system is so extremely limited, which only manages to create problems: drains the battery in a sigh. When disconnecting the Wi-Fi so that the battery lasts a little bit, since it cannot install the updates, which are always linked to offering purchase suggestions in the house of the book, it hangs with an infuriating frequency.
And despite everything, with problems to read a book bought at home from the book, following the whole process.
Unable to install any application like dropbox or google drive. Well, nothing, except my gmail, so they can send me propaganda and so on.

A reader is not a tablet. But they do not specify that the Wi-Fi connection is so limited that it is useless except for shopping at Casa del Libro. And it hangs with some frequency.

I hope that in the new models, these issues have been improved, and at least, you, have spent the money on a device in good condition.

But I warn you that Tagus ignores it. Terrible after-sales service. Worse.
The purchase price is irrelevant in this case, since it was also sold at normal retail prices in many establishments.
Any manufacturer has the obligation to sell their articles in perfect condition. And if it fails, fix the mess, regardless of the purchase price.
At least where I bought it, they are trying to find solutions, and the deal is excellent, even though I am not sure that I will get a satisfactory solution: my book fixed. Due to lack of effort, it will not be. The problem is that Tagus ignores it.

    Greetings.

I have been using Tagus for years. The last Tagusiris lasted me 28 months, and it was the product of a change of the previous one that was under warranty and was lost by the house. A disaster the after-sales service
In the latter I cannot charge the battery or connect to the computer because the common USB connector fails
The battery life thing is a shame Lately it lasted me 300 pgs
I am looking for information to change devices
