Scribd launches its reading app on the Amazon Appstore

Many of us know that Fire OS, the operating system of Amazon tablets is based on Android, Google's operating system. But, although Amazon recognizes this, it does not recognize very well Google Play, the Google appstore and has always preferred to use its own Appstore. This has always been an inconvenience for developers since after complying with the requirements of the Play Store, they had to redo the application to meet Amazon's demands. This has caused the Amazon Appstore not the same as the Google Play Store. This explains why we have applications such as Gmail or YouTube in the Play Store but not in the Amazon Appstore. Scribd has been brave and has decided that to celebrate the increase in users of its reading service via streaming, what better than to release an application for the Amazon Appstore and for now it has succeeded.

Currently, until Amazon removes it, we can download the Scribd app from the Amazon Appstore for any Kindle Fire for free and the official way. Taking advantage of this launch Scribd has released an update for all its applications with many improvements that give greater usability to the Scribd service through mobile devices.

Scribd app enhancements

Among the improvements we find is this new version of Scribd we can find a change in sources, being more pleasant for reading through the screen, expanding the number of these to use and giving the option of more font sizes. Another feature that geolocation has been improved, allowing this ability in our readings as well as being able to move internationally whenever we want without losing functionalities in the application. Other minor but equally important improvements for users are the night mode and page numbering, insignificant things in general but that for the users of the application represent a great advance.

Opinion on Scribd and the Amazon Appstore

It is a great advance for the entire ebook market that the main agent in this market, Amazon, stopped using applications of reading via streaming in your Appstore. However, I do not think that you have to quickly throw the bells on the fly, since this application may have escaped them and temporarily it can be used in the Amazon Appstore but it will disappear, this happens continuously in other stores, where they sometimes appear Apps that are viruses and after a while in the Store are eliminated. This seems more logical to me than the consent of the Scribd app on the Amazon Appstore. Although I have to say, in defense of Amazon, that Scribd It is not the only app of reading via streaming, 24Symbols, is another that I have found in the Amazon Appstore. We will have to wait for it to say Amazon So that the incorporation of the application is great news, that will surely say or do something, don't you think?
