Onyx Boox continues to launch new products and eReaders with Carta technology and for various markets. We have recently seen how it has been launched the Onyx Boox MonteCristo for the Russian market. This eReader has a very good screen that not only has Carta technology but also has a resolution of 1072 × 1448 pixels and 300 ppi.
The eReader in question is interesting but its price is not. East Onyx Boox MonteCristo sells for 169 euros, a very high price for all its features since for the same but paying less money we can have another eReader such as the Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Aura Edition or even the Tagus Iris.
Onyx Boox MonteCristo is an eReader with a processor 1 Ghz dual-core, 512 Mb of ram and 8 Gb of internal storage. Despite having a button panel, the screen is tactile and has lighting. Android 4.2 is the operating system that this device carries with access to the Play Store but will not be able to run much software due to limited hardware. It only has Wi-Fi access, so we will not have the possibility of connecting via bluetooth or listening to audiobooks.

The battery of this Onyx Boox Montecristo will be 3.000 mAh, a battery more than enough to have a month of autonomy or even more if we only use it to read ebooks.
The price of this device is around 169 euros, a very high price if we take into account all those functions that it still lacks and its rivals. Because nobody opts for an eReader like this if we have a similar one for less money like the Kobo Aura Edition 2, the Tolino Vision 4 HD or the Kindle Paperwhite.
As you can see, the list is extensive and could be expanded even more. But maybe in spite of it, this Onyx Boox MonteCristo finds a niche in the great Russian market What do you think?
