Onyx Boox Kepler Pro, a "near" premium eReader with a very "premium" price

KeplerPro

In April we met a new Onyx Boox model that had a screen with Carta technology and was waterproof. This eReader received el Kepler Pro name. This eReader is already available to everyone, however its price is quite high and possibly many have not fixed or do not opt for this Kepler Pro.

The main characteristics that we announced in the month of April do not change much with the final product except some absence with the IP68 certificate of which nothing is known although the casing is metallic.

As we told you before, the Kepler Pro has a 6-inch screen with Carta technology, lighting and touch. This screen has a resolution of 1442 x 1072 pixels with 300 ppi. The Kepler Pro processor is Freescale 1 Ghz with 1 Gb of ram memory, 16 Gb of internal storage and can be expanded thanks to the slot for microsd cards. In addition, the device has Wifi and bluetooth. All supported by an autonomy of 3.000 mAh, a great battery that will give a fairly high autonomy to this device.

Kepler Pro lacks audio output

Like the rest of Onyx Boox devices, Kepler Pro is powered by an Android version, specifically Android 4.2, a slightly old version of Android but more than enough to give the device other functions besides reading.

The price of the Kepler Pr is 216 euros, a very high price if we take into account that the materials are not premium, nor is it IP68 certified, nor does it have audio output. A price that is being a burden for the eReader itself as few people are going to opt for this eReader having other more powerful and more affordable models such as the Kobo H2O, the Kindle Paperwhite or even the Onyx Boox C67ML.

Possibly the price goes down over the next few weeks, but so far this price is the end and that is a hassle. For the rest, the Kepler Pro is an interesting eReader where storage will not be a problem nor speed, something that will be high for the amount of ram memory we find. However What do you think?
