Nook will support free ebooks thanks to a recent update

Barnes & Noble

Large bookstores are not normally lovers of the distribution of free ebooks, something that Amazon made clear a long time ago when its classics hid them or did not have them as visible as the bestsellers. However, it seems that Nook, its main competitor, wants to change this situation.

Thus, in an email sent to the editors, Barnes & Noble has reported that Nook and its ebookstore will allow the introduction and dissemination of free ebooks. An update that will not penalize the ebook for having this price but quite the opposite.

The Nook update will allow the inclusion and dissemination of free ebooks even if they have 0,00 in their price

The update is not very new because it will be a change in the management of the ebookstore for which the price of 0,00 can be entered, that is, without paying anything for it. The system will allow the introduction of this price and iwill introduce the label Free in the ebook, something that will help users to search for these types of ebooks. Although the purchase process will continue the same as with a normal ebook but in the end you will not be charged anything for it.

Possibly Nook and Barnes & Noble get more customers and more users for their ebookstore although it is something that we are not very clear about since the current situation of this bookstore is quite bad, leading to not having any CEO to mark and direct the company.

In any case, small ebooks are showing that this freedom does not make them less profitable quite the opposite, making them more popular and with more sales than Nook or Amazon itself. So this inclusion may be a small step in the right direction. But Will this step be the only one you take or will it be the first of many? What do you think?
