New York Times to retire its news app next month

NYT Now

It has been almost three years since the New York Times newspaper launched its own mobile app in which he showed his latest news and news that were published according to the tastes of the users. This app was revolutionary in its time, but it is true that it is currently having little success, if not none.

It is perhaps for this reason that the management of the famous newspaper has announced that next month it will close the service of this app as well as remove it from the appstores in which it is located. NYT Now will cease to exist although we can say that its technology will not.

Many of its algorithms and software that the NYT Now app has will be taken to the New York Times website as well as to other digital facets of the media, significantly improving it for a better experience for New York Times customers and users.

NYT Now technology will be brought to other departments of the media

And customers and users of these types of apps do not lose the way of receiving news since currently apps such as Apple News, Flipboard or Facebook Instant Articles are filling the gaps that the absence of this app will create. And this is what possibly has made NYT News disappear, as these apps offer the same, but support and maintenance does not have to be done by the New York Times so leaving the apps in other companies makes the media save money or even earn it as many publishers who use other apps claim.

Personally I think that the suppression of NYT Now is great news not only for the company but for the user who just wants receive news in one application and not having as many applications as news to read. Thus, as with news apps, the same could happen with reading apps Do not you think?
