If not long ago we met a monitor with an electronic ink screen, today we discovered that the manufacturer Netronix has developed a prototype of an eReader with a 13'3-inch screen, an eReader that, although it has characteristics similar to SonyDPT-S1, it seems that the Sony lags far behind the Netronix device.
The Netronix Ereader has a 13,3-inch screen, a size similar to the normal folio, the screen is touch and has infrared to detect, among other things, the digital pen that it carries. The resolution of this eReader is 1.600 x 1.200 pixels.
We do not know anything about the memory that this device has, nor the storage that it allows, now, we know that it carries a Freescale processor. The software it carries is Android 4.0 although they have promised that the eReader will be updated quickly to KitKat, that makes me think that possibly the ram memory is between 512 mb and 1 Gb of ram memory, but only if we take into account the specifications of Android Kit Kat.

And while having a folio-sized eReader is cool, it's even more. if you have Android and access to the Play Store, where we can use the apps we want and we will even have the opportunity to develop for the eReader since it will have an SDK to launch custom apps or roms. And best of all is the price of this eReader. According to gossip, during CES there has been talk of the possibility that this eReader costs over $ 600 if purchased in bulk, something that of course means that the eReader will be quite inexpensive, at least if we have as a reference to Sony's DPT-S1.
In short, the Netronix eReader has a large screen, Android, and is inexpensive. Any snags? Well, yes, the eReader in question is a prototype, Netronix would need a sponsor for the manufacture and in about 3 months it would already be produced, so unfortunately we cannot say that it is very, very real, but it is possible and sometimes it is. that says Do not you think?
It is very similar to the DPT-S1. I commented on it in another post. I think Eink should go towards this type of device: digital notebooks. It seems to me that it would have many possibilities but of course, a lot (a lot) should adjust the price. Would someone pay € 1000, or € 600 even for a notebook, no matter how digital and modern it is? Now that if you manage to put it on the market for € 300 maximum, well, it seems like a great advance.
