In everything that surrounds all kinds of technological products, among which we can even find apps or services, we find that fierceness on the part of the big brands for "eating" to the small fish that roam trying to gain a place in the market.
It is now that Rakuten Kobo is in the process of acquiring a much of the shares in Tolino. For the most part, this action is understood by Kobo to access its digital book store, which includes thousands of ebook books in German.
Kobo is also known to access the software you use Tolino's line of eReaders and the one who is in charge of making the synchronization platform work in the cloud.
The Tolino Alliance was formed in 2013 and its mandate or objective was fighting Amazon in Germany. It was Thalia, Weltbild, Hugendubel, Club Berstelsmann and Deutsche Telekom who came together to merge their series of reading devices and launch an online book store.
One of the main owners of the Toline Alliance is Deutsche Telekom and they have completed all the steps with the Bunderskartellamt to sell your shares on the Tolino eBooks platform to Rakuten Kobo. It is unknown if the other members of the alliance intend to sell their share of the company, something we should know in the next few days.
Rene d'Entremont, the director of public relations at Kobo, stated that Rakuten Kobo has entered into an agreement with Deutsche Telekom for the acquisition of assets related to eBook technology and will share the details when they become available.
Another of Kobo's possible ideas with that acquisition is provide your eReaders software of greater potential when it has not changed much in the last 5 years, so what Tolino offers, with its apps for Android and iOS, is more than interesting.
