Kobo has already officially announced its Kobo Touch 2.0 eReader as well as the features of the new eReader and its price. Kobo Touch will finally feature a display with Pearl HD technology.

KoboTouch September 9 will arrive to markets and in Canada and the United States. At the end of September it will arrive in Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Mexico and in October this eReader will be available in France, Germany and Spain.

The Kobo Touch 2.0 has a weight of 185 grams. and dimensions of 115 x 157 x 9,2 mm. This eReader has a 6 Ghz Freescale i.MX1 processor. and the ram memory, although it is not specified, will be approximately 256 mb.

The screen will be 6 " with a resolution of 800 x 600 and 167 ppi. Will have no lighting but it will be a touch screen with up to two multitouch points. The storage capacity of this eReader is 4 gb without the possibility of expanding since we do not have a microsd slot.

The Kobo Touch 2.0 will compete with Amazon's basic Kindle

The software on this eReader will be the same as on other Kobo eReaders, which will allow us to read Pocket articles, comics and even view images in jpg format. Not long ago, one of the last updates was received by the old Kobo Touch, so we think that this eReader will have a long time of support in the software aspect.

The price of the Kobo Touch will be $89 and dollars, a high price if we compare them with its competitor the basic Kindle, however several stores are lowering this device. Thus in Indigo we have been able to see a slightly lower price.

It seems that with this new eReader, Kobo closes its range to compete with Amazon's Kindle. Still this is not all and surely there will be surprises after this new eReader or so I think.

Although it is more expensive, I prefer the Kobo software to the Kindle. That alone is already worth the Kobo.
