Kobo Mini for the price of a book

Kobo Mini for the price of a book

It is nothing new and novel that companies related to the ebook and eReader launch unusual promotions in the face of key campaigns such as Christmas or the already imminent summer campaign. However the launch he has proposed Kobo on your device kobo-mini it is no longer unusual but incredible. En el United Kingdom, Kobo has placed your eReader Kobo Mini at the price of 29,9 , a price similar to the traditional book in that country. Something unusual that very few times had taken place and always with very low-end devices, contrary to what was proposed.

Kobo Mini, an attractive eReader

kobo-mini is a Kobo device with a 5 ”electronic ink screen and a resolution of 800 x 600. It also has a touch screen and Wi-Fi connection, elements that few low-end eReaders have. The only drawbacks to this device is that it lacks High Definition, which places it below the Kindle and also has a 5 ”screen, a size that will not please those who love large screens.

The processor of the device, currently, is not very new, some 800 mhz although the market that offers Kobo of ebooks if that is very interesting, already reaching on 1.000.000 titles.

This price drop to a mid-range device seems to be a Kobo plan to enter the British market and position itself as a rival to Barnes & Noble, a company that seems to be conquering this market with its ereaders and ebooks.

I do not know if Kobo's interest lies in taking market share from its rival or in entering to expand little by little in Europe, despite all this, Kobo's measures are very drastic and are having very good results. A few months ago all manufacturers of eReaders manufactured with the 6 ”screen, now after the success of Kobo AuraHD, many manufacturers are considering and have even changed to the 7 ”size.

Not long ago, Kobo decided to sell its devices and ebooks in physical stores throughout the United States, a few days after in Germany and Spain, similar actions are being traced.

Little by little we are seeing how Kobo It is positioning itself as an important company in the sector, stealing market share from two giants such as Amazon and B&N. Given this, it only occurs to me if soon we will see eReaders in Spain at the price of a book like Don Quijote de la Mancha. For the moment y, before the possible wait, the official distributor of kobo-mini in Spain it marks as “not available" the kobo-mini although it does not appear as discontinued. Now we only have to know that the big companies in the market will respond to such Kobo actions, because I do not doubt that they will not take long to answer.

in the open market they sell it used for $ 700. If my calculations are correct it should be between $ 250-299. So either your information is old or wrong, or the guy is a terrible jet. It is the same device and above used. Greetings

Hello Marcelo, thanks for reading us. As for what you comment, I think they are scamming you, at least in the prices of the used eReader. I just saw one of the stores that sell Kobo and no Kobo device reaches $ 700 even remotely and, as for the Kobo Mini, they reconfirm what we have said in the article, at 29,90 L.

In the UK it sells for £ 30. I can tell because I bought it two days ago at a WHSmith in Barnstaple (Devon)

I have it and I love it, I thought that because of the small size it would be a problem to read but no, I found it quite comfortable even to carry it in my backpack.

Help!! I have bought the KOBO Mini (my first ereader). I use Caliber (Ebook Management) to add Epubs to Kobo. I have only 5 books on the Kobo and when I try to add more Epubs I get a warning window of the caliber that says that I do not have enough space in the Ereader (out of a total of 1,30GB). How is this possible? Isn't the Ebook supposed to fit hundreds and hundreds of books? I already have to add a card?

Hello JayTCron, what you are saying is weird, I use the Kobo Aura HD and that does not happen to me. Have you made sure that you are saving the ebooks in the memory of the eReader, the one you mention of 1,30GB? I know it's a no-brainer but sometimes we don't look and we keep things in another direction. If it still happens to you, open a topic in the Forum and we will all look at it. Greetings.
