Kobo discounts

Kobo discounts

Controversial and highly commented are the discounts and advantages that the Amazon giant makes on its products, being very competitive and very difficult to match by its competitors. Maybe that's the big problem that people have with AmazonWell everyone except your customers. But they exist other bookstores and ebookstores that can reach offer the same discounts as Amazon. A good example of this is the company Kobo.

Although Kobo is not well known in Spain and Europe (I would dare say), Kobo is having a fleeting career and in a few months it has become one of the most powerful and dangerous rivals that Amazon has. A few days ago we told you about his agreement with The central, so from November 12, Kobo will be entirely in Spain and will be a great rival to Amazon and other bookstores that are trying to take over the ebook and book market, such as The book house.

Knob discounts, a contribution from a reader

A few weeks ago, Ricard, a reader of ours informed us about the discounts offered the web knob for the purchase of ebooks. The operation of this website is already well known to all. They post a code and we copy that code and insert it into the ebook purchase form that has a box to insert it. The amount of codes that Kobo has issued and issues for its readers is impressive and certainly worth using.

Elijah (@odo) on his blog Sense of Wonder He tells us that these discounts work in the foreign version of the Kobo website, the Spanish in principle do not work due to the price law that concerns ebooks and books in the Spanish market. But, Although I have not been able to prove it personally, it may work if we look for ebooks that are in Spanish from the English website. Another recommendation to use the discounts on this website, which our follower indicates very well, is that before proceeding with the purchase, we must deactivate the quick purchase to be able to insert the discount code, since otherwise we will be charged for the books without have the option to insert the discount code.

Social Networks, a source of discounts for Kobo users

I have recently discovered that Kobo is issuing discount codes through its social networks, especially of PinterestI do not know if it is definitive or if it is just a strategy to get followers through their social media profiles, but there they are, in many cases it is the first thing you see of the entry. For the Facebook fans, I have to comment that they do not usually use this network much for discounts and when they do it is by inserting a link from another network such as Pinterest.

Opinion: «Always Seek»

Personally, it is the best I can tell you, always look. Nowadays, the author is no longer restricted to a certain bookstore or publisher, so there is always some version of the same title in each bookstore, what happens is that each bookstore offers a price, is more or less serious and offers others. incentives that may or may not suit us such as free shipping, hard copy or digital copy, etc ... It is true that Amazon always offers the cheapest prices but for example, in the case of Kobo, we will always have a small sample for download , so before buying we can always see how the ebook is read and if we are interested or not, this small addition for the same price as Amazon or even less with discounts. If you often buy ebooks, these pages that I mention are essential these days, since soon the new Kobo devices will go on sale among other things, so more discount coupons will be launched, even if they are not for the devices.

Updated 24/10/2013:

I have recently tried again to buy ebooks with the Knob discount coupons. As Odo indicates in his comment (see below) they only work with ebooks with foreign publishers, not Spanish. And yes, I have personally checked it and after selecting the foreign ebook, a box will appear to insert the code. Today it works ( the rest of the codes also work) the code "Oct50" that lowers the ebook to 50%, take advantage of it.

    Hello:

    A couple of clarifications:

    - I don't know who this Ricard will be, but the blog you link to (Sense of Wonder) is mine, not his.

    - In the Kobo store in Spain you can use coupons. What you cannot do is use them to reduce the price of ebooks published in Spain, but you can use them to buy (some) books from foreign publishers. Not all admit them, but many do.

    regards

Hi Odo, the error is already changed in the text. Sorry for the inconvenience and the mistake, I got confused and I found the names. Sorry for the inconvenience. As for the discounts, I have put this because I was testing them personally and they did not work with some ebooks, but the combination you mention should not have tried. Thank you very much for the clarification.

        Thanks to you 🙂

Not all ebooks accept discount coupons (those from Spanish publishers, by law), but there are many that do. It is a bit tedious to search, but with discounts of up to 50% it is worth it.

        All the best
