Although not officially, it seems that Kobo Rakuten wants to recall the Kobo Glo HD, an eReader launched last year that posed a serious threat to Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite.
This eReader was a revolution and now not only Kobo has reported that it does not have stock of this model rather, several stores in several European countries warn that they do not have this model and that they do not know if they will receive units of this eReader.
So many warn or report that the Kobo Glo HD is discontinued, at least in Europe but the strongest argument of all is its own Kobo Aura Edition 2 existence, an eReader that has been released recently and that offers the same as the Kobo Glo HD for less price and a screen with a lower resolution than the Kobo Glo HD. So it seems that Kobo would try to sell the Kobo Aura Edition 2 and for that it would stop selling the Kobo Glo HD. However, there is still nothing official about it.

In any case, to do so, it would be a logical action since the main competitor of the Kobo Aura Edition 2 is precisely the Kobo Glo HD, although surprisingly it is the Kobo Aura One that is the device that Kobo Rakuten sells the most.
And remembering this device is when it comes to my head that possibly we are not facing a withdrawal but simply due to stock problems. The great sales of the Kobo Aura One has dislodged many, Kobo included so that currently all the logistics of the company is dedicated to the Kobo Aura One and not to the rest of eReaders. Then, Kobo could have temporarily recalled the Kobo Glo HD to deliver the Kobo Aura One. Even so, we do not have official news and we will have to wait to see if the situation becomes general or not or at least it becomes official. What do you think?
A shame because I bought the Kobo Glo Hd and it was the best purchase of last year, it is almost perfect and my battery lasts, the reading is sensational and the options are many I do not change it for any other at the moment.

I have had in hand the bq cervantes 3 and the Tagus, and they do not have a quality finish, they are flimsy and poorly finished, the kindle Paperwhite is up to par, but I flee from the Amazon sect, remove the Glo hd and put the Aura 2 instead is an insult to potential buyers.
