Kobo Clara HD, an eReader that will begin to be sold on June 5

Kobo clara hd

We've been hearing news for several weeks about a new Kobo eReader launching this year, as directed by the FCC. And we don't have to wait much longer as the future Kobo Clara HD will be a very near reality. Kobo has officially presented the new device, although it will not be on sale until June 5 in Spain.

El Kobo Clara HD is an eReader with a 6-inch screen, a small screen if we take into account the trend of the latest devices launched this year, but like its competitors, with a high-end quality and a great resolution.

The Kobo Clara HD has a Carta HD technology display with 300 dpi, which makes the device not low-end. The screen is touch and has ComfortLight Pro technology that eliminates blue light in dark areas or spaces. The measurements of the Kobo Clara HD, with borders included, are 159,6 x 110 x 8,35 mm with a weight of 166 gr.

The Kobo Clara HD will try to compete with the Kindle Paperwhite

The internal storage of the device is 8 Gb that cannot be expanded by means of a microsd card slot since it does not have it. What it does have is a Wi-Fi connection and a microsusb port, to communicate the eReader with other accessories or devices.

The new Kobo Clara HD is capable of read 14 different file formats among which are ebooks, images and html code. The autonomy of the device is weeks, according to Kobo, a trend that other eReaders maintain.

The Kobo Clara HD will have an approximate price of 129,99 euros and can be purchased from June 5 through the official Kobo website or through Fnac, one of the official Kobo Rakuten distributors. There are a few days left for your purchase and it will be necessary to check how this device turns out, but everything seems to indicate that Kobo Clara HD will be the replacement for the Kobo Aura Edition 2 and rival of the Kindle Paperwhite. However Will Amazon respond to this new eReader?

KOBO Clara HD = KOBO Glo HD + ComfortLight Pro?
An e-reader that KOBO should never have replaced with the KOBO aura 2 as it had better features, but of course, who would buy the aura 2 if the glo hd was available for 10 euros more?
What KOBO should have done is build a KOBO Glo HD 2 with ComfortLight Pro and if it was also water resistant it would have been fantastic.

Hello Pedro, personally I thought the same as you when I saw the image. Although I believe that Kobo's intention with this eReader is to increase the performance of the low-end range, although I am not very clear that the Kobo Clara HD is a low-end eReader. We will have to wait to have this new eReader. Thank you very much for commenting.

I go to Amazon and see that now there are many "Prime Reading" books included in the Amazon Prime subscription and independent of the Kindle Unlimited ... this is new, right?

Maybe Kobo should invest a little more in its software, something like what KOReader offers, because its hardware is already excellent and its versatility of formats leaves Amazon very low, too ...
