It seemed that we were experiencing a strange tranquility in the world of electronic books with hardly any news of any new device and without much news to present but Kobo yesterday took charge of breaking this tranquility by unveiling his new Kobo Aura HD, a less interesting eReader.
Kobo has been characterized by launching devices that largely meet the needs of users and if last year it put the Kobo Mini on sale, an eReader with a reduced price and a size of 5 inches, now it launches this new Kobo Aura HD with a high resolution display, something not seen for the moment in the world of electronic books.
The new Kobo device stands out for two things, the first of which is its size since we are facing an eReader 17,2 centimeters long which makes it one of the largest devices launched on the market by Kobo and above. all for his 6,8-inch high-resolution display that will allow a resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels with 265 dots per inch. With this you will have a resolution and pixel density higher than that of any other device with E Ink technology on the market.
In addition, the new Kobo eReader has a backlighting system that will allow you to read in areas of low light or even darkness.
The main characteristics of the Kobo AuraHD are:

Reactions on the new device have not been long in coming and Wayne White, vice president of Kobo has said; “For us, the Kobo Aura HD is like the Porsche of ebook readers today, designed to be fast, powerful and stylish. There are no limits to this electronic reader.
The price of the Kobo Aura HD is 170 dollars, about 130 euros and we will be able to make a pre-purchase order from today in the United States and from April 25 in Canada and the United Kingdom. At the moment it is unknown if this new and powerful eReader will reach more European countries, although it could be confirmed that it will without risk of being wrong.

It seems like a more interesting option, I was determined to leave my kindle touh for the paperwhite now I'm not so sure
It paints very well and 6.8 ″ can be important to read depending on the content.
I will continue with my fidel Kindle Keyboard until eink arrives in color (yes, I'll wait seated ...)
I think it's great that innovative devices are coming out and this is it. I think a screen a little larger than usual is a good idea.
The Kindle Paperwhite is 212 dpi, so a jump to 265 is no revolution, either.
and PDF support?
I do not see buttons but I do not see how the zoom is done to see embedded images well ... is it TOUCH? can you zoom and how?
