Many of you surely have a Kindle eReader, an eReader that has many functions for the most readers but surely you will not use the Amazon store to get your ebooks but other channels.
The downside of this decision is that you will not be able to use the new functions of Amazon's KFX format, a format that incorporates the possibility of the Bookerly font, a larger line spacing, better performance, etc ... At least you couldn't until now. A Caliber developer has released a plugin that it's called KFX Conversion Output, a plugin that will allow us to convert any ebook to the new Amazon format. This plugin is free and can be used as many times as you want as long as the requirements that the plugin needs are met.
KFX Conversion is the beginning of the conversion of this format
One of those requirements is to use Kindle Preview 3, a free Amazon application in which we will need to be registered with the same account with which we have run the plugin in Caliber. Then after installing KFX Conversion Output, conversion is easy:
- First we convert the ebook to Epub format.
- Then we convert the Epub format to KDF format.
- And finally we pass the KDF format to KFX.
Unfortunately we cannot do the same in reverse, that is, We will not be able to use KFX Conversion to convert ebooks in KFX format to Epub format. However, this plugin means a great advance for the development of a plugin that converts both formats as is currently done with the Epub format.
