Although most users use Microsoft Windows and all libraries and companies create applications for Windows, the truth is that an increasing number of users use other operating systems due to their philosophy or because of their manageability, such as Ubuntu. But for Ubuntu there are usually not many library applications, rather none, only Caliber. With this small tutorial we are going to see how to install the Kobo application in our Ubuntu 15.04 without being computer experts.
To install the Kobo application in Ubuntu we will only need to have the Chrome browser installed or Chromium. If you are really newbies and you know how to install it, I recommend that you stop by here. If you already have it installed, continue.
The first step of all is to open Chrome and go to the main Kobo website. There we start a session with our account, which will bring up the following window:
Once the session is started, the same home screen will appear but our name and image that we have configured will appear on the doll, open the drop-down and select the option "My Library" to go to the library of ebooks.
To create our Kobo application we will use the Google browser
After which the library appears, it is important that you wait for everything to be loaded and if it does not load, update the page so that everything is loaded. Now we go to the File menu of our browser and mark the option «Create Shortcuts to applications ...»With which it will ask us if we want to make direct access to the Desktop and the start panel, we say yes and a shortcut with the Kobo icon will not appear on the desktop.
This icon comes with the title of the web page so we rename it and put the name we want, in my case I have put "Kobo", once renamed, we click on it and we take it to our application bar, in the case of Ubuntu is on our left. With this, the Kobo application will be installed in Ubuntu. One more thing, if you want the Kobo application to remain in the sidebar, you have to leave the Kobo application on the Desktop, otherwise it will also disappear from the bar.
Interesting. That if, I think that the final version of 15.04 does not come out for a few days ...
