Ebook sales also drop in the UK

Civilized Saturday

The new VAT and pricing policy that exists among large publishers has led to great benefits for publishers and booksellers who now sell more books, but not for digital publishers.

In this case not only in the United States but also ebook sales have fallen in the UK, as stated by the UK Publishers Association. These falls paradoxically have supposed the same increase in sales in physical books which is why many think that people continue to support and love books before ebooks.

However, this change in format is not given by a preference or tastes but rather by a question of money. While VAT or other taxes on books are low, on ebooks it is still high, which means more expensive ebooks than in other countries or at least products with the same price.

In the United Kingdom, ebook sales have been replaced by sales of books and audiobooks

On the other hand, the price coalition that large publishers have made ebooks sometimes more expensive than the books themselves, something that in the United States has been very negative and that now we see that the same happens in the United Kingdom.

But perhaps the most striking of all is that in both countries audiobooks are growing astonishingly, possibly being the digital format that replaces ebooks in the publishing market, at least until taxes and publishers deal with them as has happened with ebooks.

Many claim that we are before the fall of ebooks and the survival of books, but everything indicates that it is only a question of money, not of adaptation or of readers' tastes, so when everything happens, the ebook will survive as it has happened and it will happen to the book Do not you think?
