Amazon updates its eReaders and apps software

Kindle

In the last hours several changes in the software of Amazon eReaders have taken place, as well as eReaders update or as an update of your applications, but new improvements come, although not the desired ones.

Yesterday we learned the unpleasant news that Amazon is limiting the first Kindle, a bad thing for your users but possibly necessary for everyone. And with these updates the thing does not change, rather it remains the same, but other devices and users will benefit from new functions.

Apparently, manga-loving users will not have to buy the Kindle for Manga instead they will have to install the latest firmware, firmware 5.8.5 from Amazon. This makes rotation is possible as well as a better reading of ebooks in manga format. This update can be done either through OTA or through manual installation, something that we already explained to you here how to do it.

But this is not the only new thing. Amazon has also retired its Kindle app for Windows 8. This means that users will not be able to use or rather install this app. Users who have it installed for the moment will be able to use it but it is not known when it will stop working. In any case, users have the option of Kindle Cloud Reader or the use of your eReader. The reason for this change is not yet known, but it is possibly due to Amazon you will only have the app available through the Microsoft Store and thus stop offering it through its website, a more centralized and controlled process than up to now.

Personally I still believe that Amazon has serious software problems and these changes may be due to it, not only to a firmware update that would ensure compatibility with new operating systems but also the end of the support of certain users that could give serious problems, as are Windows 8 users. But we will have to wait to see if this is solved or more changes need to be made What do you think?
