Amazon renews its Fire 7 and Fire HD 8

New Amazon Fire

For weeks there have been rumors of the arrival of new Amazon tablets and yesterday Wednesday, Amazon has confirmed those rumors. Bezos's company has released two new versions of the Fire 7 and Firef HD 8, its two low cost tablets that are reporting so much success to the company.

In essence we have to warn that the devices are not new at all, but rather reused. Amazon this time has not made major changes and these models can be summarized as the same hardware but on a new chassis.

The Fire 7 was launched in 2015 and little has changed compared to the 2017 model. The same hardware, screen, processor, memory, etc ... but the weight and measurements are not the same since the 2017 version is a millimeter thinner and 20 gr. lighter than the 2015 version. The price is not another thing that has changed, something that many users appreciate and the Fire 7 tablet will continue to sell for $ 50 per unit.

The Fire HD 8 It is a renewed model of the 2016 version. This time the same thing happens as in the Fire 7 2017, but in addition to changing the "chassis", Amazon has lowered the price of the device, putting it at $ 80, something interesting for many users.

The Fire HD 8 maintains the same hardware as in the 2016 version but is a millimeter thinner and also 20 grams. lighter than in its old version. This model was the base for the new Fire Kids and this time, when the base was renewed, the Fire Kids has also been renewed, but with the same changes as the Fire HD 8.

Unfortunately these new models cannot be purchased from the Amazon store. These versions will not be available until June 7, that is, almost a month after launch. So if we need an Amazon tablet, we have to wait a little longer or settle for the previous models.

So basically the improvements are 20 grams less in weight 1 millimeter more fine, right? I don't really see it as very impressive.

By the way it seems that Japan Display is developing a 600 ppi e-ink screen. Double the current ones. I do not know to what extent it is a significant improvement but at least it is nice to see that he continues to work on improving electronic ink.
