Amazon continues to be investigated by the EU on ebooks and their practices

Single digital market

A year ago we learned that Amazon was being studied and investigated by the EU and its commissions. This was done after several complaints by institutions, companies and even governments. Of course, the news only spoke of the beginning of the investigation, no conviction or trial, but months later we see that investigations continue and now the EU will start talks with Amazon being able to reach a beneficial agreement for Amazon itself, at least more beneficial than a trial.

Some conversations that not very clear if Amazon is guilty or not but they create controversy after the recent fine of 13 million euros that the EU has imposed on Apple, one of the large multinationals in the publishing sector.

Amazon could follow in Apple's footsteps with the EU and pay a multimillion-dollar or higher fine

Investigations into Amazon are carried out for monopoly, but it also has investigations for the payment of taxes, a more delicate case since the Known sanction is applied for defrauding 1% percent. In any case, it seems that Amazon is not going to have it easy at all because the EU is prepared since not only has it carried out the relevant investigations but all the member countries have collaborated in the investigation, providing tax information, something that makes things difficult for Amazon itself.

After a year of research and without contributing anything new, I still think that Amazon is not committing any monopoly practice, although it is true that its methods are novel and it is difficult for a small company to compete with it, but little by little, national bookstores are getting Amazon to sell less and less, at least in the publishing sector, despite the fact that countries like the United Kingdom still have Amazon as the main bookstore in the country, but Will it last much longer? What do you think?
