Amazon adds ebooks in five languages of India to its catalog

Kindle from India

Four years ago Amazon launched the ebookstore in India, an ebookstore that had a few books and ebooks in one of the most popular languages of India but not all. The bulk of this catalog was still in English since it was a language that many Indians know and understand perfectly.

But Amazon has decided to take a step forward and this week has incorporated ebooks in the five official languages of India for all its inhabitants and for all Amazon customers.

New ebooks will be written in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam. These languages will contain classics from Indian literature but also recent works that have been translated and digitized by publishers and guys at Amazon.

The ebooks of the ebookstore of India will allow to promote these languages in other countries

But this news goes further because it is not only about selling more ebooks but it will make it possible for any citizen of the world from anywhere in the world other than India and thus not only enjoy literature but also be able to learn these languages that are currently unattainable for many.

Possibly Amazon has shown one of its best virtues: taking any book or ebook anywhere in the world regardless of the quantity or price of the holder. This is something that many users prefer and that is why Amazon's success is so global despite not having official stores in every country in the world.

Personally, it is not among my tastes learning these languages from the country of India, but having the possibility of learning it, reading or enjoying ebooks in these languages is something that I find interesting, although there are so many languages in the world that you always have to put some aside Do not you think?
