Libraries are for reading books, you don't rent movies! I still remember when years ago I heard these words from several members of the library in my town when they saw that there was a section to rent VHS tapes and DVD's. Something that surely shocked many of you at the time and that it seems that it will not be the only thing that will hit libraries soon.
All the American libraries continue to innovate and now they have decided add video games to your loan catalog, in such a way that the little ones and not so young can rent video games along with the odd reading.
Video games in libraries are causing more children to consult the bookshelves
This will seem counterproductive to many but the truth is that the librarians of the libraries that are giving this option affirm that the shelves are visited more and not only video games but also books, being more consulted but also played. The truth is that currently there are hardly any places where you can rent movies or video games, which makes the library a very visited place and by extension makes more people discover the pleasure of reading.
The incorporation of video games is not the only technology that has been incorporated in recent years. Computers with Internet access and posts with Free Hardware are two items that have been added to the movie shelf, something that although it has not reached Spain, in the Anglo-Saxon world is having great success and is making libraries once again the center of knowledge and culture, but centers that have hundreds of visits a day, something that did not happen from the Ancient World.
Hopefully this is massively promoted but also we hope it reaches other countries like Spain. If it meets the results obtained, it is well worth having it in the libraries Do not you think?
