The latest edition of Dictionary of the Spanish language, published by the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) It has already been sold for several months in bookstores in our country, and in addition, for a few days it has also been available for consultation through the official website of the institution. Despite the fact that this time we have had to wait much longer for the digital edition than for the printed one, this will be the last time this will happen as no more paper dictionaries will be launched.
This measure was announced by the president of the RAE, Darío Villanueva at the presentation of the Online Dictionary, declaring to the media present that the next editions will be born with a purely digital vocation.
The RAE Dictionary is finally available through the RAE website thanks to a sponsor, who for a long time was claimed and sought by its president. Finally La Caixa's Obra Social is the sponsor that has allowed, thanks to a contribution of one million euros per year, that the dictionary is available online for the consultation of any user.

These words bear the signature of Isidro Faine, president of La Caixa and of the foundation that has contributed the money necessary to make the Dictionary accessible to any user online.
For his part, the president of the RAE declared to the media that "never before has the Dictionary had such an influence on Spanish-speakers as now", also considering that new technologies, "sometimes cause anxiety, but also an extraordinary opportunity ”.
