It's being hard not to talk about eBook sales from time to time in comparison with those of printed books. Two formats that have to get along, since before the initial craze for digital booksMany have once again wanted to feel the paper in their hand and the smell that comes from its pages.

The figures are also quite revealing, like those of the publishing industry in Europe that generated quite a significant income last year, although it took a long time to be able to count all the data to be able to reveal some figures with which to get a better idea.

In total they were 575.000 new books published and generated over 22.300 billion euros in sales in 28 European countries. The report also indicates that four million titles were available in digital formats, a number that the report has made clear has increased due to the increased use of "print-on-demand" and the introduction of more self-published titles.

It has been estimated that eBooks now have a 6 percent percentage of all books sold in Europe and there are currently 4 million digital copies being sold on Amazon, Kobo and a string of sellers.

Un approximate total of 125.000 people were employed in book publishing full time in 2015, which is basically the same level year after year. In any case, we are facing an area where it is quite difficult to collect real data. The entire book value chain, including authors, vendors, designers and more, is estimated to employ more than half a million people.

The European Publishers Federation believes that eBook sales they have stalled and that the next figures related to the current year will not see any drastic change in the number of digital units sold.
