Belgians can hunt books instead of Pokémon

Hunting books

Pokémon GO has meant quite a social event this summer and has been able to get millions of people out of their homes who were used to playing their consoles, smartphones and other gadgets within four walls. Although many do not understand the why, you have to stay with that skill that that game has had so that the streets are flooded with kids with their smartphones.

Now there is a new video game that instead of allowing the hunt of pokémons, you can go in search of books. Inspired by the success of Pokémon GO, a Belgian elementary school has developed an online video game for people to search for books instead of those famous monsters. It has managed, in a few weeks, to attract the attention of thousands of players.

Instead of using GPS and camera to track virtual creatures around the neighborhood, Aveline Gregoire's version is played through a Facebook group called "Chasseurs de livres" (Book hunters). Players post images and tricks about where they are hiding and others go in search of them. Once someone has finished reading a book, they return it to its wild state to hide it elsewhere and thus provide clues.

In a few weeks more than 40.000 people They are already part of Gregoire's Facebook group. Hidden books range from children's books to Stephen King horror books and may be hidden in Belgian towns encased in plastic to protect them from the rain.

Now the next step would be creating an app so book hunting wouldn't have to rely on receiving a notification from Facebook to report a book being seized by someone.
