3 alternative eReaders to Kindle and Kobo

Kobo GloHD

Currently on the market there are two eReaders that are the best for their price and quality beforehandThese are the Kindle Paperwhite 3 and the Kobo Glo HD. However, they are not the only options that exist in the market and sometimes they are not the best either, especially if it is about personal tastes.

This is how we wanted to analyze three alternative eReaders to the Kindle and the Kobo Glo HD that are not only good for our pockets but are also good for our tastes. In addition, all of them have the latest e-ink display technology, that is, the Carta technology. And the price of these three eReaders is also affordable for our pockets. So which eReader to choose? For that you will have to keep reading.

  • Nook Glowlight Plus

This eReader has a 6 ″ screen with a high resolution, about 300 ppi. It competes directly with the Kindle and the Kobo. In addition, its price is $ 129, a price almost the same as the rest of its competitors. The big difference compared to other eReaders is that the Nook Glowlight Plus is water and shock resistant, something that its competitors do not. On the other hand, this device has recently been hacked, so in addition to being waterproof, you can get an agenda or an eReader-Tablet for the same price.

  • Tagus Lux 2016

We have recently talked about this eReader, although technically it has not improved much compared to its rivals, the truth is that it already has Carta technology and its operation as an eReader / tablet is very good, which makes this eReader ideal for those who want to have an electronic agenda or simply a place to take notes in addition to reading an ebook. Also, unlike other eReaders, the 2016 Tagus Lux has the ebook store of La Casa del Libro which makes it an ideal eReader for those who usually shop at La Casa del Libro. All this for the same price as the rest of eReaders, about 119 euros.

  • Tolino Shine 2 HD

This eReader from the Tolino Alliance is not the best of the company but it is the one that corresponds in price and quality with the rest. Tolino's eReader is an advance over its previous model, and unlike the rest, Tolino Shine 2 HD has the possibility of expand memory using cloud space that Tolino offers to its clients. In addition, in Germany there are various hotspots that provide Internet access without having to pay anything for it. The price of this eReader is 119 euros, like other eReaders with the same characteristics. Unfortunately if we want the premium version, we have to pay 40 euros more and we will get the same but with resistance to water and shocks.

Conclusions on these 3 alternative eReaders

Along with the most famous eReaders on the market, these three ereaders form the five best solutions for those who want to have a cheap and powerful eReader. Curiously, it seems that a horizon of 119 euros has been established in the world of the eReader and these five eReaders certify it. When it comes to choosing an eReader, I personally would not know which one to choose and possibly stick with all five eReaders. Neither option is bad nor is it by far the best. Unfortunately it is a difficult decision, but if you are between one of these eReaders and a different one, better choose one of these five devices, it will be the best option by far.

    Good

I am looking for my first electronic ink ereader, so far I am reading on my mobile, and I usually visit here daily in search of news, reviews and help.

My preferences are a touch screen with light and physical buttons to change the page since on the mobile I use the volume key + - for this function and I think it is the most comfortable option for reading, at least for me, so I These five devices the one that attracts me the most is the Tagus Lux 2016 because it is the only one that has these buttons.

I was hoping to see another of my options in the article, the Energy Ereader Pro + that you mentioned not long ago that now has Carta.

Between these two, Tagus and Energy, which one would you recommend?

    regards

I would recommend the kindle paperwhite. It does not have buttons, and I was one of those who thought they were essential but I assure you that turning the page by touching the screen is very very comfortable and the fingerprints do not remain marked since it is a bit rough.

I have had it for more than a year (I have two) and it has never hung up on me. The dictionary is a great help and if you read in English you can install a free English / Spanish one that helps a lot.

I think the Amazon store is the best of all by far. The one with the most titles and it works like a charm. But hey, that's if you intend to consume purchased books. If you like tinkering, installing apps for which the ereader is not designed and things like that, because this is not your device.

At first I also thought that touch was the best to turn the page. I installed the Aldico on my mobile and tablet and turned the page by touching the screen, until tinkering around I found the option to enable page turning in the volume controls and for me it is more comfortable.

I do not rule out the Kindle, we gave one to my father and very happy, but apart from the physical buttons, I am also quite attracted to the Android option in the ereader, I suppose I am used to the mobile.

      Thanks for your answer.

About the two that you put.ms without having a clue, I Energy would not buy. It seems a bad brand to me. I have had many ereaders in my hands and as you buy a current one the user experience decreases a lot. It's like when you have a tablet of those that the newspaper gives you with coupons, then they are worth nothing.

Hello, I am particularly of the opposite idea. I didn't think the buttons were useful but when I used the 2015 Tagus Lux it felt very good. If the Tagus really doesn't convince you, another option would be the Tolino Vision 3HD (eye the Tolino Shine No). This Tolino model is more expensive but with tap2flip technology you can use the back of the eReader as if it were a keypad. Now this means 40 euros more. But if you give me the choice between those two eReaders (the Tagus or the Energy), I'll take the Tagus Lux 2016. I hope it has been helpful, in any case with any questions, tell us or simply go to our forum, there they will help you more. 😉
    Thanks for reading.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on the Tagus.

I have seen on the web of some well-known department stores that have the Tagus Lux on sale at € 49. I suppose it will be last year's model to remove the stock but tomorrow I will see if they have it in store and be able to test it.

Hello, I have had the Energy pro for a month. Very good buy.

Andreu, surely that 49-euro model is the 2014 version, an eReader that technologically seems worse to me than 2016 in 2015. Keep that in mind and take a good look at it. Greetings 🙂

I have had the Sony reader for 3 years, I use it a lot and I like it because it does not limit the reading formats

A word of advice: if you are going to use the digital library to borrow books, do not buy a reader that does not support the EPUB format,

which is the one that uses the digital library

And Caliber is not going to solve the problem for you, because you will not be able to convert it to the format that the kindle uses because what Amazon

wants to sell his own books

I guess I have explained myself well
