10.000 books form a river in the streets of Toronto

Toronto

Encouraging reading is very important and if you cannot find a striking way to draw attention to such a beneficial action, you can go to certain groups who have great ideas to surprise that pedestrian on the streets accustomed to an urban landscape that is already very common. This is cars, noise, smoke and more that we all know.

Luzinterruptus is the culprit, as an anonymous artistic collective, of conquering the streets of a capital like Toronto, for whichand a river made up of 10.000 books flows through them. In this way they wanted to decorate that magical night called Nuit Blanche 2016, as an art festival that got the citizens of Toronto to stay up late to attend special events.

Nuit Blance 2016 is an artistic festival that takes your space and time in one night. The books that formed the flow of these streets were in total about 10.000 that were put there by about 50 volunteers who worked for 12 days thanks to the donation made by the Salvation Army. The "conquered" street was Hagerman Street in which that night was illuminated by all those books that provide culture to all who wanted to pass through it.

Toronto

In an area of the city that is typically reserved for speed, pollution and the noise, for one night, the silence, the calm and the luminosity provided by those books, became the real protagonists to praise books as a way to bring to the culture of those passers-by who could sit down to read for a while or take a book to take it away.

Toronto

Those books not only stayed to be seen or read, but rather as a form of recycling. The event lasted ten hours and that artistic proposal that the citizens of Toronto will surely remember for a long time.
