Review of the new Sony eReader: the Sony PRS-T3

A few weeks ago, the guys at Sony kindly gave us their new eReader, the Sony PRS-T3, so that we could do a review on the eReader. A few days ago we published the unboxing of the eReader and today we bring you the review. I know this eReader does not have a good reputation right now after abandon Sony its ebookstore in favor of the Kobo ebookstoreAlthough it may be one of the best times to consider this eReader, since the Kobo library is much larger than the Sony library, that is, we have «received suddenly»A huge number of ebooks and periodicals as well as having the option to get it for a lower price with the discounts that Kobo launches. Even so, keep in mind that the video has been made before the news of the ebookstore, so you will not find it in the video at any time.

Sony PRS-T3, a good Sony product

El PRS-T3 it came to us through Sony guys. What most caught my attention is the eReader packaging. After removing the plastics, linings and cardboard box, we found the eReader package, the package that we can see in stores or large supermarkets, that is, the security of the eReader is incredible, especially if we compare it with its competitors such as the Kindle from Amazon. Once opened, we find the eReader, the documentation and the usb cable that we can use to charge the eReader's battery as well as communicate the eReader with the computer.

Regarding technical characteristics, you will find them in the video as well as in other articles already published, however I would like to highlight two aspects that I think are key for this eReader. The first one is the battery situation. The SonyPRS-T3 I think it is the first eReader that puts the battery within the user's reach, so if we have a problem with it or want to replace it, we can do so without resorting to any technical service. The other characteristic of SonyPRS-T3 to highlight is its screen. While it is true that the PRS-T3 It does not have a front light like its competitors, it does have a very new and clear screen, with a white background that few eReaders have and an incredible perception of the touches. This perception is extremely useful when we want to write notes, underline, or draw on our ebook with just the touch of our finger.

Regarding the software of the SonyPRS-T3, its interface is simple and very intuitive, like that of almost all eReaders, however we have noticed a significant difference, the PRS-T3 It takes a long time to load, to turn on, compared to other eReaders such as the Kobo Aura HD, its startup is late, however, once it is turned on, the speed and loading of the ebooks is very fast. Possibly more than other eReaders like the Kobo Aura HD or Kindle Paperwhite. Also noteworthy is the possibility that the Sony PRS-T3 gives to install and use applications on the eReader. In addition to the basic applications, Sony incorporates two very useful applications into its eReader: Evernote and Facebook. The first, Evernote, turns our eReader into a magnificent agenda in which we can write down all our notes, appointments and day-to-day tasks, we write it on the pc and synchronize it with the eReader. But we can also install other applications such as Pocket or TelegramLet's not forget that the background operating system is Android.

Regarding the purchase of ebooks, we could not verify it first hand since the eReader informed us that there was a problem with the ebookstore and the region, perhaps the change process is already underway that you will surely have available now.

Finally, comment that the Sony PRS-T3 comes with a very useful protective case that will help us save our eReader from accidental blows, now, if we do not want it, there is also the option to buy the eReader without that case, with the consequent reduction in its price. You decide. What do you think of this review? Is there any aspect that you would point out that has not been said?

Before the Kobo Aura HD my eReader was a Sony PRS-600 and two compelling reasons were what made me change the brand: 1st: I did not have the Spanish language, so I did not have the option of the dictionary and 2nd. the illuminated display.
The material from that Sony is much superior to that of the Kobo, very robust, the library is also better presented, simpler and with greater search options, such as by literary genre.

ON LOVE'S DAY I GIVEN MY GIRLFRIEND A SONY PRS-T3 EREADER. A FEW MONTHS ARE HALF OF THE SCREEN BLURRED AND STRIPED. THEY TELL ME THE SCREEN IS BROKEN AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE REPAIR IS ANTI-ECONOMIC. IT HAS DECEPTLY DISAPPOINTED ME.

The screen is easily broken by normal use after a few months of use and Sony will not be responsible for the repair even if the equipment is under warranty.

I also gave a Sony PRS-T3 to my wife. She was very happy and I also gave her the protective cover with lighting. But after three months one day he finds it with some stripes at the top of the screen. I remove the protective cover to take it to the SAT and in that operation the stripes extended to the middle of it. I figured it would be broken.
But as they say in many comments SONY goes through everything and does not consider it to be their responsibility and it is not covered by their warranty. IT IS A TRUE ATRACTION because the gadget is not cheap at all, and actually has a weak screen that does not meet the minimum resistance standards.

It happened to me exactly the same. After three months of using a broken screen without doing anything. Sony is not responsible. Armed assault. Do not buy this eBook or you will lose money.

I left it unused for the summer months, to my surprise, when I wanted to turn it on again it would not turn on. I charged it several times and nothing, it did not work. Really with little time of use, it has broken me.
I don't know if it's the drums or what it really is. The battery is accessible, but the cables that connect it are soldered ... € 150 for the garbage ...
