reMarkable, a digital notebook with a large screen

reMarkable

The craze for large screens in reading devices seems to have finally arrived. Following the launch of the Sony DPT-S1 and other models, now companies, both known and unknown, are launching devices with a large screen.

The last device within this category is reMarkable, an eReader or rather, a digital notebook that has a large screen to be able to take note of everything as well as to read it. This device cIt has a stylus and a very interesting price for many.

reMarkable is a reading and writing device that has a 1 Ghz processor, 512 Mb of ram and a 10,3-inch screen with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 pixels and 206 ppi. This device has a proprietary Linux-based system and 8 Gb of internal storage. In addition to having a touch screen, reMarkable has a stylus that will allow us to take notes on its screen.

reMarkable allows us to write on its large screen and read through it

This device will have priced at $ 529 without any add-ons. But now it can be purchased for a lower price due to its launch. So if we reserve this device, reMarkable will cost about $ 379. A price difference that scares many experts.

We have been living for a long time the vaporware phenomenon, devices that are advertised, people buy it and then nothing is received and nothing is known about its official launch.

Many say that we would be facing a similar case, however the benefits seem to be so detailed that it is difficult to believe that the device does not exist. If it exists, reMarkable could compete hard with other large screen devices such as the Onyx Boox Max or the Sony DPT-S1. In any case, this is something that will happen next August 2017 or maybe not? What do you think?

A very interesting but limited device. Limited in the formats that it can read and in the fact that it does not have a memory card reader. By the way, even at $ 379 it still seems expensive if we compare it with tablets and what a device can do and how limited the ink is for reading, period ... well, and for writing in this case. By the way excellent refresh rate when typing huh. Writing is practically instantaneous.

Another thing I'd like ink to work on is offering a whiter background. There it is shown to be more grayish than white (it is especially noticeable by the frame). And I wonder if there is any problem to put light on the readers of 10 or more inches since none of them have it.

Will we ever see a 10 ″ Amazon ereader? leaders must lead the way and if Amazon were to cheer it up, it would be the final step for others to follow suit.

Cool. Will it support apps like referral managers? Feed readers? Because if so, I switch from PC to ReMarkable right now.

It is a very interesting product. I like the size of the screen and the fact that it has a stylus. By the way, it is to praise the speed of writing refreshment that I find outstanding from what I saw in the video.

Of course, I have been saying for years that E ink should work on making a screen with a whiter background and in that product, with the blank frame, it is clear that the background of E ink is still quite dark despite the fact that the new ereaders with built-in light try to hide it. It is clear that the very basis of the technology offers a very great difficulty to achieve a whiter background and better contrast. By the way, there must also be some difficulty in applying the light guide in large ereaders (over 8 ″) because none of them have it ... or it will be, I suspect, incompatible with the stylus.

By the way, a 10 ″ ereader with a stylus is great, yes. Reader and notebook ... but I still think these devices are too expensive for what they are. And more if we compare it with tablets.

I wonder if one day Amazon will dare to offer us a similar product. It would be great because also surely others would cheer up and that would be good for the consumer.

What I need is a large screen e-reader in which I can read pdf documents with graphics, such as a magazine or a newspaper, gesturally enlarging the areas that interest me at the same speed as with a tablet, at the moment, I do not know none that meet these requirements ...
