NOOK GlowLight 3, is it the third time to win?

Nook Glow Light 3

These days we have seen how Amazon launched a new model of Kindle Oasis, Bq updated its Cervantes and even the European Tolino launched a large screen eReader, but they have not been the only ones.

Barnes & Noble have also launched a new device: Nook Glowlight 3. A device that is not a recycled tablet like the latest devices but rather an eReader, an eReader with the latest technologies on the market for these devices.

Nook GlowLight 3 is a continuation of its small screen eReader, Nook Glowlight. The latest model of this device was launched in 2015, two years between model and model. Justified period of time due to the problems that the old bookstore has had with the spaces and the few benefits that it has had lately.

The Nook Glowlight 3 is an eReader with a small screen, 6 inches, with E-Ink technology and a form adjusted with respect to previous models and with respect to other rival devices. A prioriIt seems that the new eReader is more manageable than other devices, which means that we can operate it with one hand, leaving the rest free. Something that also happens in the Kindle Oasis.

However, we cannot confirm all this because the device has not yet been put on sale, since at the moment it is in pre-reservation. The measurements of the device are: 17,60 x 12,7 x 0,96 cm. Unlike other eReaders, the Nook GlowLight 3 still has a button on the sides to turn the page.

Regarding the screen, the new B&N eReader has a screen with Carta HD technology, touch screen and backlight. The resolution of the screen is 1430 x 1080 pixels and 300 dpi. Like many other eReaders, the Nook GlowLight 3 has a blue light filter, so we can activate this mode at night and read without any problem. With this eReader we can turn the page either with the buttons or with the finger since it is tactile as we have mentioned above.

The processor of this new eReader belongs to Freescale, specifically the i.MX 6 to 1 Ghz model with 512 Mb of ram and 8 Gb internal storage, of which 6,5 Gb are available. Something important since there is no can expand, since the Nook GlowLight 3 does not have a slot for microsd cards.

The new B&N eReader does not have a 3G connection like the Amazon Kindle, but if it has a Wi-Fi connection with which you can buy ebooks or transfer them, a microusb port to do it manually and if we are in B&N stores we will have a free hotspot connection.

The device is capable of read ebooks in epub, pdf, ebooks with DRM format and the formats: JPG, GIF, PNG and BMP. They are not compatible with all online bookstores, but they do have the basic and universal formats that an inveterate reader needs.

Nook Glow Light 3

The autonomy of this device reaches 50 days. A high autonomy that comes from a battery of more than 1.500 mAh, or so I think, because the data of the milliamps of the battery has not yet been published.

The price of the Nook Glowlight 3 is $ 119, the same price as the Kindle Paperwhite, a device with which it competes directly, or rather it will compete directly. The eReader cannot be purchased yet, but it can be reserved for when it launches at the beginning of the Christmas campaign, that is, at the end of this month. A decision a bit difficult to understand because an eReader is not something that many users expect to have and more so having models as interesting as the Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Aura Edition 2.

Respecto a the price / quality ratio, the new Nook is quite competitive, an eReader that will make things difficult for the creators of the Kindle Paperwhite and the Kobo Aura Edition 2. But it is true that with the reduction of stores and the ebook catalog, the success of this new eReader is complicated Do not you think?
