Kobo Aura Edition 2, an unexpected surprise from Kobo

Kobo Aura Edition 2

Yesterday was important for the guys at Kobo but also for those looking for a new eReader as two interesting eReaders were presented for the market, not only for their design or size but also for their price. We all expected the Kobo Aura One, but we didn't know anything about Kobo Aura Edition 2, a traditional eReader with an ugly name, or at least that is currently being discussed.

This device has a 6 inch screen, a size that is far from 8 inches but that is in tune with other eReaders such as the Kindle Paperwhite 3, the Cervantes 3 or the Kobo Glo HD itself. Furthermore, many consider that The Kobo Aura Edition 2 is an upgrade to the Kobo Glo HD.

El Kobo Aura N236-KU-BK-K-EP ...Kobo Aura Edition 2 ″ /] has a 6-inch screen with Letter technology, touch screen and with illumination, to be more exact with technology ComforLight and a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels; but in this case we do not have the same density of pixels per inch as in the Kobo Glo HD, the Kobo Aura Edition 2 has 212 ppi. Much less than the Kobo Glo HD.

Kobo Aura Edition 2 will share the design with the Kobo Aura One

The design of the Kobo Aura Edition 2 is the same as the Kobo Aura One, but in reduced dimensions, this is 159 x 113 x 8,5 mm and 180 gr. This is surprising because it has a great weight but it also shares a design with another eReader, something that had not happened for a long time among Kobo eReaders, which each had a different design.

Kobo Aura Edition 2

Regarding software and formats, the Kobo Aura Edition 2 will have the same as its older brothers, including the possibility of borrowing ebooks through Overdrive. Kobo Aura Edition 2 will not have a slot for microsd cards, so the 4 Gb of internal storage will be important.

The price of the Kobo Aura Edition 2 will be similar to the Kobo Glo HD, but about ten dollars cheaper, that is, about 119 dollars. A low price for those who are satisfied with such an eReader, but for ten dollars it may be worth opting for the Kobo Glo HD, which has a screen with a better resolution.

In any case, even though many will opt for the Kobo Aura One, The Kobo Aura Edition 2 is a great alternative for manyBoth for those looking for a low price and those looking to have power in their eReader.

Kobo Aura N236-KU-BK-K-EP ...
  • 6" Carta E Ink touch screen with 1024 x 758 pixel resolution
  • 256MB RAM memory and 4GB ROM memory, with capacity to store up to 3000 eBooks
  • ComfortLight PRO reduces blue light exposure and protects eyes
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n and micro-USB connectivity

I have bought one at FNAC in Barcelona and I still haven't been able to do anything with it. I think FNAC has done a bad business by changing brands and not having their own.

I want to change my reader and I am doubting between two, this is the kobo aura edition 2 or the Tagus Iris 2017, my doubt is not because of the formats that it can read, it is more because of the warranty issue, I understand that the kobo would have to send them out of Spain in case it had a fault, but I do not know if it is really like that. What eraeder would you advise me to buy from the two?

    Hi Isabel,
No, with the Kobo, if something fails you, they change it directly in the store, it's super simple ... Between the two, without a doubt the Kobo, more for the content than for the device. Everything that exists in digital has Kobo, nothing to do with Tagus or BQ, unfortunately ...

I have not tried with that model, but with my old Aura, no problem. I use Caliber for that (caliber-ebook.com) and it works perfectly.

This ebook looks the same as the 2012 kobo Glo under another name. Even touch technology is infrared, which is a step back from capacitive technology, right?

I had a problem with the Aura one, I took it to fnac, they sent it to technical service and in 1 week they sent me a new one. Perfect service.

I bought the kobo aura 2 because I am going to travel and in my opinion it is literal shit, it will be difficult for me to take a liking to reading on this thing. It is super slow, like going back to the beginning of computers and that only moves books that weigh few k's. The simple task of consulting what books you have or organizing it is slow and cumbersome, the touch operation is painful, you slide and select things, it goes with an amazing delay compared to when you touch the screen. The pages, the text, do not automatically adapt to the width of the screen and you have to be playing with the zoom, which is also worthwhile, it is impossible to increase small percentages, and it is a task to be repeated for each page turn! now it will turn out that one after 20 years using electronic gadgets is a denial before this kobo reader. It goes just the opposite of something fluid, to the point that I go to google and look for places to leave this warning opinion to future buyers. For € 100 don't buy this shit !!!!
