Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, the new ereader that leaks by mistake

Comparison of the new Kindle Paperwhite with the Kindle Basic

The arrival of the global pandemic made, among other things, the technological world slow down, like all societies. And that has caused large companies like Amazon to delay their launches by up to two years longer than expected. For a long time that many of us who follow the prices and offers of the Kindle we had the Kindle Paperwhite update, Amazon's star ereader that had not been updated for years.

Recently, Amazon's new Kindle Paperwhite has been unveiled by mistake, some devices that have surprised everyone.

The first change that we have to mention about these new models is Adopting 6,8 inch screen. Finally Amazon has compromised and its devices reach a larger screen size, although the pixel density remains.

Unlike other Kindle models, the new Kindle Paperwhite will feature two editions: a "normal" edition with a 6,8-inch screen and 8Gb storage and a version called Signature Edition that will significantly improve the model and feature a 32 Gb storage and a 6,8-inch screen.

Both models will have the IPX68 certificate that you already have the current model and will have a warm light sensor as well as it will be increased the number of led lights of the backlight, as they already have the devices of the competing companies.

Unfortunately, these models They do not have a color screen nor the possibility of being able to execute epub files. Features that many users expect and that it seems that Amazon has decided to bring it to the premium range devices since these Kindle Paperwhite models do not have it.

Sound and wireless charging is what the new Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition brings

What has pleasantly caught my attention (without neglecting the new screen size) is the inclusion of the bluetooth module with sound to listen to audio books. A function that illogically had the low-end devices, the Basic Kindle but that did not have this model of higher benefits. This is undoubtedly due to the success of Audible, Amazon's audio-book service, which makes me think that this function will become a basic function as is the backlit display.

As far as we know, both the Kindle Paperwhite and the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition do not have a color screen, but they do have a function not seen in eReaders that it seems that we will see in more ereaders, wireless charging. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition will have wireless charging although it seems that that does not mean that it does not have a long battery life. Unfortunately the normal Kindle Paperwhite does not have this function since it seems a good solution for those moments when we want to read and we have run out of battery.

The source of this news is Amazon itself, since in their Canadian website has mistakenly posted the new specifications and the new models as well as the price of each device.

After several years without raising the price, Amazon has raised the price of the Kindle Paperwhite, with $ 149 being the new price for this eReader. And in the case of the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition the price of the device reaches $ 209 per unit.

The price as you can see has risen considerably but taking into account the wireless charging, it seems that it is not so much the rise for the benefits it offers. And on the normal model, although it increases 10 dollars over the old price, still lower than the rest of the models with the 6,8-inch screen, something that will undoubtedly make many users opt for the Amazon device.

Will the Kindle Paperwhite be the only Amazon model to get an upgrade?

At the moment we only know the new models of Kindle Paperwhite, we don't know anything about the Kindle Oasis or the Basic Kindle, models that have not been updated for a long time and that can do it at the same time as the Kindle Paperwhite.

Know the specs of a new future Kindle Basic It's easy, but what about the Kindle Oasis? The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition not only raises the price of mid-range devices but also makes the performance of Amazon's high-end eReader is increased. Thus, it seems that the screen size will increase in the premium range or at least it will be different. The color screen can be a good option, although after several months of launch, large companies in the sector such as Amazon still do not position themselves on the technology. The incorporation of sound and water resistance are also elements that will undoubtedly be in the high range and wireless charging may be another function to consider. From here on, any new function is possible, although personally I think Amazon will focus on a few new features, as it did in the past with the first Kindle Paperwhite or the Kindle Voyage.

Unfortunately we do not know when the new Kindle Paperwhite will be released to the rest of the world, but I do not think it will take long because more and more users are talking about new accessories for these models.
