Packaging

Packaging and box of the ereader Max

I like to talk about how ereaders are packaged, because it gives us a very important first impression.

The device we It arrives very well presented, with a robust and beautiful box and an interior with details that make a very good first impression. The black dust jacket with the heart of Enegy sistem that protects the device when opening the case, the velvety bottom, etc. They are small details that without appreciating them generate confidence in the purchase made.

In this sense they have done a very good job. But let's talk about the device itself and everything it has given us.

Impressions and appearance

energy system Max

On an aesthetic level it is a beautiful device. With side button panel for page turning on both sides, which makes it ideal for both right-handed and left-handed or for different ways of holding the reader. It also has a central button at the bottom to go to the beginning when we are lost between the menus.

The back is made of smooth plastic and its appearance deceives us, because it seems that it is going to slip but really good grip. We can hold it with one hand perfectly without touching the touch screen by mistake. I like the wide frames in the ereaders, especially in the tactile ones because they allow us, as I say, to hold the device well and not be constantly activating the screen and turning the page.

energy Max rear with good grip

In hand the touch is pleasant. The entire cover is made of smooth plastic and as we have said with a very good grip, nothing slips and that is very comfortable. The size is correct for a 6 ″ device. And although it might seem a bit heavy, I consider it normal. As I have said, it has a symmetrical side button to control page turns.

Display and operation of the ereader Max

display, contrast and operation of the ereader

This is where we are going to tighten the Energy Sistem ereader. It has an e-ink Carta Display with 16 ink levels and a resolution of 600 × 800 and 166 dpi. It looks good although it is not the quality of other devices, it stays a bit fair.

We can read well and enjoy but when we compare with other well-known brands is when we see the differences and that point that it lacks to be a great ereader. Despite the soda if we look we notice that ink background with the letters that was before and lacks a bit of contrast

The main deficiency of the MAX from Energy sistem is the fluidity in its operation. The page turns are slow and with some stranger in the transition to a lesser extent the start-up (it takes 35 seconds to start, but I do not consider it a very important feature). Where we especially notice, this lack of fluency is when we use a writing function and we see how difficult it is to keep up with our writing rhythm.

At the battery level, it perfectly fulfills what an ereader is, forgetting in several weeks to have to recharge. Not being enlightened helps a lot.

The strong point. Android and its possibilities in the ereader

Features of the Max and review. ereader with android

It is the first reader with Android that I try and the truth is that I was surprised by its possibilities.

For me the strong point of the device is that it incorporates Android as an operating system. The possibilities of using eReader skyrocket.

The idea is NOT to turn it into a tablet. Each gadget has a different function and the ereaders are for reading, but being able to use the Play Store applications allows us to connect with social networks and be able to send information to the ereader. Thanks to Android we can enjoy a large number of applications and integrations to our readings.

We can connect Twitter, Facebook, to share quotes or fragments of the text that we are reading. Goodreads, etc. But they are not integrations. You use the application as you do with your smartphone.

But where we can really take advantage of it is when sending information to the ereader. We can use Pocket, drive, mail, we can send books, documents or read articles that we have marked from our PC browser, laptop or smartphone.

Conclusion

A correct ereader with which you will enjoy your readings, but it is not a device for the most demanding or comparable to the high ranges. Android gives you very interesting use options that are not possible in conventional ereaders, but it lacks the screen and the fluidity when using it.

I see in the MAX with Android, a base to improve. With screen and fluidity changes it could become a great ereader. The base is there.

Interesting for the Android theme, the sd, the multitude of formats and the buttons that will please some (personally, neither fu nor fa).

But the question is ... is it worth investing that money in this when for that price (or little more) you have the Kindle Paperwhite with better resolution, light and more fluid?

It is that I did not want to base everything on a comparison with the Kindle. If I had to choose for myself I would stick with the Paperwhite or the Kobo.
