BQ updates its eReader and launches the BQ Cervantes 4

BQ Cervantes 4

The Spanish company BQ continues to bet on eReaders. Despite the fact that the company is focused on the launch of new smartphones, it has had a gap to launch a new eReader model, a model or rather an update. This device has been called Cervantes 4, replacing Cervantes 3, which, for the moment, is still being distributed.

This new device does not bring any flashy features like the Kobo Aura One or Kindle Oasis did, but it does offer what every reader is looking for. For one thing, the eReader screen has been updated to a display with full-resolution E-Ink technology, this is 1072 x 1448 pixels and 300 ppi. A resolution that only premium eReaders have. Its measurements are moderate and it has a frontal light that can be adjusted to eliminate blue light, for the most nocturnal readers.

Cervantes 4 is compatible with the Nubico flat rate and it offers the possibility of increasing its internal storage by means of a slot for microsd cards, something that many models of eReaders are deliberately removing.

Regarding measurements and weight, the new Cervantes 4 weighs 185 gr and has the following measurements: 169 x 116 x 9,5 mm. They really are interesting measures for most readers, at least in terms of weight, something that many readers complain about and look for in a good eReader.

The autonomy of the Cervantes 4 is quite high, exceeding the month of autonomy, with a 1.500 mAh battery. Of course, the autonomy will be more or less depending on the use we give the device as well as the wifi module and the front light.

Regarding technical specifications, The Cervantes 4 has a 6 Ghz Freescale i.MX 1,2 processor with 512 Mb of ram and 8 Gb of internal storage. It has a Wi-Fi connection, touch screen and front lighting. The technology used by BQ is called OptimaLight, a lighting technology that allows the light emission to be modified until it completely eliminates blue light and offers that typical orange screen on these devices.

The price of this Cervantes 4 is 139 euros, priced higher than other 6-inch devices, but affordable when you factor in items with the blue light, weight, or flat rates of ebooks. Something that only premium eReaders have.

Personally I find it an interesting eReader, very interesting if we take into account the functions of its predecessor, Cervantes 3 and that at the moment there is nothing to confirm that it cannot be done. That is, I think we have a premium eReader with a mid-range price or so it seems, we have yet to pass the tests, but What do you think of the new BQ device? Do you think this new Cervantes 4 is interesting?

Well, a priori it seems like an attractive device. The theme of the "night" light I think is a great idea and I wonder how long Amazon will take to copy it for their Kindles. The truth is that I have never had a BQ in my hands but I keep a great memory of my first ereader, a Papyre 5.1. Good to see there is life beyond Kobo and Kindle.

My question is: where can I buy it?
Incredible as it may seem, it is not available anywhere.
That is, there is still little life beyond Kobo and Kindle.
